Nothing OS 2.5.3 Phone Update Adds April 2024 Security Patch

Nothing has been actively working on resolving issues and enhancing the user experience for its recently released Phone (2a). Despite focusing on their new device, the company hasn't overlooked the users of their Phone (2) model. They have initiated the rollout of the Nothing OS 2.5.3 update for the Phone (2), bringing in the latest Android security patch, performance tweaks, and a new feature allowing users to customize their icon pack settings.

Nothing OS 2.5.3 Update Highlights

What’s new

  • Users now have the option to apply the Nothing Icon Pack solely to the Home Screen, making navigation in the App Drawer more accessible.
  • Enhanced user experience on the Home Screen by allowing the scrolling through pages while holding app icons, offering a more intuitive way to organize icons.

Improvements

  • Addressed an issue with car Bluetooth media players.
  • Optimized animations in specific scenarios for smoother transitions.
  • Updated the Android Security patch version to April 2024.
  • Resolved system stability issues to boost overall device performance.

The update, sized at 64.58 MB, is slated for a global release shortly. However, the community response has been lukewarm. While the previous update from January fixed some issues, users were left desiring more, particularly in terms of camera quality and general refinement. Regrettably, the new update fails to address concerns regarding camera quality and HDR control, disappointingly missing the mark. Community feedback indicates requests for features like a ring mode tile and a recorder widget, both of which are already present in the Nothing Phone (2a). Users are left to anticipate another update that may address these lingering concerns.
