Garmin Smartwatch Update Fixes Wi-Fi Sync Issues

Garmin Smartwatch Update Fixes Wi-Fi Sync Issues

Garmin has announced a new update, system software 17.32, for the Descent Mk3 dive computer and smartwatch. This update comes a few months after the previous version 17.29 and aims to address various bugs in the device.

Improvements and Fixes

The update includes a fix for an issue related to the Surface Air Consumption (SAC) calculation. Garmin clarified that this issue only impacted the dive log and did not affect real-time diving metrics. Additionally, a glitch causing transit cards to inaccurately display a zero balance has been corrected. Furthermore, a problem that could lead to the watch freezing during a Wi-Fi synchronization has also been resolved. Users should note that they may need to accept the diver disclaimer again after this update.

Availability of the Update

According to a Garmin forum post, system software 17.32 is currently available to 50% of users. Your Descent Mk3 dive computer and smartwatch will automatically check for the update as long as they are connected to Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Alternatively, you can manually look for the software using the Garmin app or Garmin Express. The timeline for the complete rollout remains uncertain.
