Camera Features

The schematic reveals that the phone will incorporate four cameras within the circular camera module, alongside a flash unit. To provide some context, the Nokia Lumia 1020, released in 2013, also boasted a similar circular design but housed only one camera. It appears that this new HMD device will also have rounded edges reminiscent of the Lumia 1020.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 was renowned as one of the premier camera phones of its era, and it seems HMD might aim to emphasize the imaging capabilities in their forthcoming model.

Comparing Past and Present

Reflecting on the Lumia 1020 specifications, it had a 41MP rear camera and a 1.2MP front-facing camera. For comparison, the iPhone 5s from the same year featured an 8MP rear camera. Nokia’s high resolution enabled a 4x lossless zoom, a significant feature at the time.

Unfortunately, details about the internal specifications of the upcoming HMD smartphone remain scarce.

Current HMD Offerings

The recently launched HMD Skyline includes a 108MP primary sensor with a 1/1.67″ sensor size, complemented by a 50 MP 2x telephoto and a 13 MP ultrawide lens. The front camera is a 50 MP sensor designed for selfies. The overall imaging performance of the Skyline has received positive feedback, especially given its price range.

The 108MP main camera is acclaimed for producing detailed and sharp photographs in well-lit conditions and incorporates Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) to minimize photo blurring.

Considering the upcoming device is heavily influenced by the camera-centric Lumia 1020, it could potentially deliver comparable or superior imaging capabilities relative to the HMD Skyline.
