Meizu appears to be preparing the release of a new budget-friendly smartphone in China. A well-known insider, Digital Chat Station (DCS), has disclosed information about the device on Weibo.
The insider refers to the phone as the Meizu “Lucky 08” and has provided images showing it in two color variations: Black and White. A particularly intriguing aspect of this phone is its camera design.
Unique Camera Design
Differing from the common rectangular camera modules seen in many smartphones, the Lucky 08 boasts a unique design where one camera seems to orbit another, set against a striking radiating background. DCS describes it as a star-track design.
While specific details about the camera specifications are not yet available, leaks suggest that the Lucky 08 will feature a large 6,000mAh battery. Additionally, the phone is anticipated to incorporate Flyme AIOS features that are present in Meizu’s flagship models.
Budget-Friendly Features
However, as a budget option, some compromises are expected. The tipster indicates that the Lucky 08 will come with a plastic frame with flat edges. Nevertheless, the phone is likely to maintain slim and symmetrical bezels on the front.
There is no official confirmation on the launch date or location for this smartphone. However, with live photos already circulating online, a release in September or October seems probable.
Meizu's Surprising Moves
It’s interesting to note that Meizu continues to launch smartphones despite announcing earlier this year that it would exit the market. Since that announcement, the company has already launched at least five phones, if not more.
Furthermore, Meizu is expected to introduce the M20, marking its first M-series phone in five years. It appears that rather than leaving the smartphone industry, the company is reviving its previous lineup. So, what was all the fuss about earlier this year?
