The Sony Xperia 1 VI, which had made appearances in leaks last year and then went silent, is once again in the spotlight as leaks about the device have resurfaced. Recently, a new leak shared by X (formerly Twitter) leaker Insider Sony has revealed what seems to be marketing material for the Sony Xperia 1 VI. The material highlights that the phone will feature a triple rear camera setup, an upgrade from its predecessor, which had two cameras.
Triple Rear Camera Setup
The marketing material reveals that all three cameras in the Sony Xperia 1 VI will have a 48MP sensor, utilizing the same Exmor T for mobile image sensor found in the Xperia 1 V's primary lens. This technology promises improved light intake and reduced noise for the cameras. It appears that all three sensors in the upcoming device will be making use of this feature.
The main lens of the Xperia 1 VI will be equipped with a large f/1.4 aperture, 2x optical zoom, and dual-PD AF for quicker and more precise focusing. It is also said to offer 1080p video recording with electronic image stabilization (EIS).
Ultra-Wide and Telephoto Lenses
The ultra-wide camera of the Sony Xperia 1 VI will have a 14-18mm focal length, making it perfect for capturing wide scenes. It will also come with on-chip autofocus, ensuring sharp and clear images.
On the other hand, the telephoto lens will offer a 6x zoom and is reported to capture detailed photos with its 48MP sensor. However, it is important to note that the 6x zoom is likely achieved through sensor cropping, as the native optical zoom will reach only 3x.
Rumored Launch Date
While specific details about the Xperia 1 VI are still limited, a leak from September suggests that the device may be officially unveiled at MWC Barcelona 2024 on February 28th. However, the leaker also shared an image of Sony's MWC event on February 26th, which suggests that an earlier reveal is also possible. Regardless, more information about the Xperia 1 VI is expected to emerge in the coming weeks.
It is clear that Sony is focusing on camera improvements with the Xperia 1 VI, providing users with enhanced photography capabilities. With the triple rear camera setup and the promising specifications, the upcoming device is likely to attract photography enthusiasts and those who prioritize camera performance in their smartphones.
