India’s First Snapdragon 4s Gen 4 5G Phone Under Rs 10,000

Xiaomi has teamed up with Qualcomm to unveil the Redmi A4 5G at the Indian Mobile Congress (2024), making it the first smartphone in the country to feature the 4nm Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip. This smartphone is aimed at entry-level users, offering both 5G connectivity and solid performance.

Specifications Overview

The Redmi A4 5G is designed with a 6.7-inch LCD display, boasting an HD+ resolution and a smooth 90Hz refresh rate. On the rear, Xiaomi showcased the phone in two distinct color choices. Although the complete specifications haven't been disclosed, the device is anticipated to be equipped with a 5000mAh battery and support for 18W charging, an upgrade from the 10W charging seen in the Redmi A3.

Performance Enhancements

The Snapdragon chip represents a significant performance boost compared to its predecessor. For context, the 4s Gen 2 chip achieves scores exceeding 800 in single-core and 1900 in multi-core tests on Geekbench, which is more than double the performance of the Helio G36 (12nm) used in the previous model. Furthermore, the 4nm process indicates a marked improvement in power efficiency, likely leading to better battery life.

Camera Features

In terms of camera capabilities, the Redmi A4 5G features a rear setup that includes a 50MP main camera alongside an undisclosed secondary sensor, marking a significant upgrade from the previous model's 8MP + 0.08MP configuration. The main camera is expected to deliver reasonably detailed images in good lighting conditions, complemented by an 8MP front-facing selfie camera. However, no additional details regarding the device's specifications have been shared.

Pricing and Launch Details

While Xiaomi has not provided an exact price point, they have indicated that the Redmi A4 5G will be available for under Rs 10,000 and will launch "soon." To refresh your memory, the Redmi A3 was released in February of this year, so it's reasonable to anticipate that its successor may debut early next year or potentially towards the end of this year.
