Humane recently started selling their AI Pin, which is a wearable device that can be used like a phone. Initially, it was priced at $699, which many people thought was quite high. Now, Humane has significantly reduced the price of the AI Pin, but there are some compromises to consider.
New Pricing Details
The AI Pin is now available for $499, as announced by the company on X. However, at this new price, customers will only be able to choose from one color — Ellipse, which features a sleek matte black finish. Unfortunately, buyers won't have the option of selecting the Lunar and Equinox colors unless they pay more.
Limitations and Accessories
In addition to color restrictions, the AI Pin now comes with fewer accessories included in the package. While it still includes a charging pad, USB-C cable, adapter, and a battery booster, it no longer comes with an extra battery booster or a charging case. Customers can buy an additional booster for $69. There is also a full package with an extra booster and charging case for $799, but it's currently out of stock.
Even though the price of the AI Pin has dropped, the required subscription plan, known as the Humane Plan, still costs $24 a month. However, customers receive a free month when they activate their device.
Future Sales and Features
It remains unclear if the reduced price will boost sales. The announcement on X also noted that the AI Pin now runs version 1.2 of its CosmOS operating system. An update released earlier this month adds new features, such as the ability to set alarms and timers, which were not available at launch. Users can also enjoy TIDAL playlists and unlock the AI Pin with a unique set of touchpad gestures.
