Huawei Unveils Two New MatePad Tablets Launching August 6

Huawei is set to introduce two new tablets in China—the MatePad Pro and MatePad Air—on August 6th. Although details are sparse, the company has previewed their designs on Weibo and announced a significant update for its GoPaint drawing application.

Huawei’s Weibo post showcased an image of the MatePad Pro, highlighting a sleek tablet with a wide display and minimal bezels. The tablet will include a stylus and keyboard, both anticipated to utilize NearLink technology for seamless wireless connectivity.

Expected Features and Colors

According to Huawei Central, the MatePad Pro may feature a 12.2-inch double-layer OLED screen and is rumored to be available in three colors: Inkstone Black, Xuan White, and Gold.

Conversely, Huawei has teased the MatePad Air in four colors: White, Green, Sakura Pink, and Rose Gold. Its design seems to differ significantly from the previous generation, featuring a horizontal lens setup reminiscent of the Nova 12 Ultra on the back.

MatePad Air Specifications

The MatePad Air is rumored to have an 11.95-inch display and support 66W fast charging, though other specifications remain unknown at this time.

In addition to these tablets, Huawei has announced a stable release of the GoPaint app, which is currently in beta testing on select Huawei tablets.

Huawei Nova Flip Smartphone Launch

In other Huawei news, the company will unveil its budget Nova Flip smartphone in China on August 5, just a day before the tablets. The reason behind the consecutive product launches remains unclear, but that is the current plan.

The Huawei Nova Flip is rumored to feature a 6.94-inch LTPO OLED main display with a 120Hz high refresh rate, making it the largest foldable screen on a flip-style phone.

Complementing this is a 2.14-inch outer OLED screen for quick access to notifications and various functions. The device will be powered by a Kirin 9-series G-free chipset, with ample RAM and generous storage options. For photography, it will include a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 32MP front camera for selfies. Additionally, the Nova Flip will come with a 4400mAh battery and support 66W fast charging.
