Honor MagicPad 2: AI Solves Handwritten Math Equations Easily

In July, Honor revealed its latest high-end tablet, the MagicPad 2, in China. As it prepares for a global launch, the company has teased this device, which will be introduced at IFA 2024. The tablet is expected to include new AI features designed to assist in learning.

AI Formula Recognition Feature

The Honor MagicPad 2 has been teased with an AI Formula Recognition capability. This feature allows users to convert handwritten equations into digital text, making it particularly useful for students and educators. In a video demonstration with math video creator PatrickJMT, the AI function was shown to quickly and accurately recognize complex mathematical formulas. The demonstration even included a nod to the famous scientist Albert Einstein. The video confirms that the MagicPad 2 is scheduled for unveiling on September 5, 2024, at the IFA event. 

Specifications and Features

The Honor MagicPad 2 is equipped with a 12.3-inch OLED display that features a resolution of 3000 x 1920 pixels, a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, and a peak brightness of 1600 nits. It runs on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. The device is powered by a large 10,050mAh battery that supports 66W wired fast charging and operates on the Android 14 OS with the MagicOS 8.0.1 custom skin.

Additional AI and Hardware Features

The tablet also boasts various AI features such as voiceprint noise reduction, Cloud AI Big Model, and the ability to convert voice to text during multi-person conferences. In terms of cameras, it includes a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 9-megapixel front-facing camera. Other significant features are an eight-speaker crossover system, Magic Pencil 3, Bluetooth 5.3, and three microphones.
