HMD Global has confirmed that new phones will be announced in July. Leaks have provided a sneak peek of the high-end HMD Skyline, which features a retro Nokia Lumia design and a powerful 108-megapixel camera. Recently, leak source @smashx_60 has revealed information about another upcoming phone, the mid-range HMD View.
Design and Aesthetics
The HMD View distinguishes itself from the more flashy designs of its competitors by opting for a more understated look. The phone is expected to come with a metal frame that has a slightly rounded design. Key features include a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button and a rectangular camera module housing two lenses and an LED flash. The color options are reported to include Meteor Black, Ice, and Velvet.
Display and Camera
In terms of size, the HMD View seems to be the successor to the Nokia X30, featuring a relatively compact 6.4-inch display by today's smartphone standards. This mid-range phone is rumored to have an OLED display with a 1080p+ resolution. The camera setup is said to include a 50-megapixel main sensor, accompanied by an unspecified secondary lens. The phone is expected to be powered by a 4,700 mAh battery.
Hardware and Performance
The HMD View is rumored to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset. This new 6nm ARM processor features a combination of two high-performance ARM Cortex-A78 cores clocked at up to 2.3 GHz and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores running at 2.0 GHz. At least one variant of the HMD View is expected to come with 8GB of RAM.
While details on pricing and the launch date are still unknown, the leaks suggest that the HMD View will offer a compact design, an OLED display, a capable 50-megapixel camera, and a long-lasting battery.
With HMD Global confirming new phone announcements in July, official details about the HMD View and its position in the company’s smartphone lineup should be available soon.
