PC Gamers Are Gonna Be Waiting Alot Longer

With pre-orders starting, Rockstar hasnt actually confirmed when GTA 6 online will launch. However, most analysts beleive that a multiplayer component is practically inevitable, since it bolsters the singleplayer experience. A leak about the Xbox version’s file structure suggests that, just like past titles, the multiplayer mode will be a seperate download.

A Seperate Download Strategy Looks Very Likley

Over on social media, Synth Potato broke down how the GTA 6 Xbox release files are actually labeled. If your buying the Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition, you’ll have extra vehicles and missions showing up as add-ons. The Vintage Vice City Pack, which includes bonus cosmetics, is another optional thing you can install. More importantly, gamers dont even have to download the single-player campaign at all.

Rockstar Could Sell It As A Standalone Product

Given that the story mode is its own download, its logical that the multiplayer mode would work the same exact way. This would let Rockstar offer the next version of GTA Online as a standalone product, if they wanted too. It would give players more flexability in choosing what content they want on there hard drive.

When Will Pre-Orders Unlock The Multiplayer? Nobody Knows Yet

Its still unclear if pre-ordering will instantly unlock the co-op and PvP action for players. With GTA 5, buyers got access when the content launched, which was around 2 weeks after the release date. Similarly, Red Dead Redemption 2 didnt require an extra purchase when Red Dead Online first opened up.

The $80 Price Tag Might Actually Be Justified If Online Is Included

If a completely revamped GTA Online comes packaged with the game, it might quiet some of the criticism about the $80 dollar price tag. Unfortunatly, Rockstar hasn’t shared any details whatsoever about a future multiplayer mode yet. Still, it’s widely expected to be a completly different service from the current GTA Online offering. That being said, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick hinted that support for GTA 5 servers will continue for the forseeable future.

Leaks Suggest A December Launch And A 32-Player Test

A few past leaks might shed some light on when GTA 6 online could arrive and what it might include. Back in April, a Call of Duty insider named TheGhostOfHope reported that it would debut in December, exactly one month after the games release date. Also, a former employee’s Discord message, which was exposed during a legal dispute with the studio, refered to a 32-user playtest happening behind closed doors.
