– GTA 6 remains on track for a November 19 release with a marketing push beginning in early July at the earliest, per Take-Two’s latest statements and CEO hints.
– The summer promo timing is still speculative; the official start date depends on when Take-Two and Rockstar decide to launch the campaign.
– Community chatter appears calmer for now, with leaks and hype cooling and fans anticipating (but not guaranteed) new info in the near term.
After the rumor mill surrounding GTA 6 threatened to boil over in recent weeks, a calmer phase could now follow. Take-Two held its earnings call yesterday, but no major news about GTA 6 emerged. In essence, the company merely confirmed that it still intends to stick to its recently communicated plans.
GTA 6 Release Plans
GTA 6 is therefore still scheduled for release on November 19, with the main promotional phase set to begin in summer 2026. However, Take-Two seems to be taking the start of summer quite literally. As CEO Strauss Zelnick explained in an interview with Variety published on May 21, summer technically does not begin until the end of June. The announced marketing campaign could therefore start in early July at the earliest. Zelnick has not explicitly confirmed this, however. For now, it remains speculation.
Community Reactions
Reddit users are reacting surprisingly calmly to the prospect of having to wait at least another month for new GTA 6 information. The Best Buy leak and the pre-order mishap in recent weeks caused plenty of excitement in the community without anything actually happening. The top comment on Reddit reads: “Finally, all the theory spam posts will stop until July.” Fans do not seem to mind a short break from the constant rumor cycle.
Speculation and Delays
Speculation continues nonetheless. Some fans believe Rockstar could delay the promotional phase even further to avoid sharing attention with the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which takes place from June 11 to July 19 in North America. Fans may therefore have to wait not just one more month, but closer to two for news on the successor to GTA 5 (PS5 version currently around $26 on Amazon). There is also a recent leak claiming that the third trailer could be released in the next few days. So it remains to be seen whether things will actually calm down in the GTA community for the time being.
