Google's Pixel 9 series includes the standard, pro, and pro XL models. After seven years, the search giant is bringing back the XL moniker, last seen with the Pixel 4 Pro XL. While there's a notable difference between the standard and pro variants, the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL only have a few distinctions. The Pixel 9 Pro also boasts substantial upgrades compared to its predecessor. Discover all the details about both devices below.
Google Pixel 9 Pro, Pro XL specifications
The Google Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL feature a boxier design with a flat frame and rounded corners. The back panel showcases a horizontal protruding camera bridge that doesn't extend to the sides. It has a matte finish, as does the entire rear panel. The sensors are housed inside a pill-shaped cutout, with the LED flash unit positioned outside. Both Pro models include a temperature sensor that first appeared on last year's Pixel 8 Pro.
The primary difference between the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL lies in the display. The Pixel 9 Pro sports a 6.34-inch screen with an FHD+ resolution and a peak brightness of 2,050 nits. The XL model, on the other hand, boasts a larger 6.8-inch display with a resolution of 2,992 x 1,344 pixels and a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits. Both phones feature an Actua OLED panel with a 120Hz LTPO refresh rate and are protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Google has also upgraded to a faster ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.

In the camera department, the Google Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL are equipped with triple rear cameras. Both phones feature a 42MP front-facing camera. They come with camera features such as Magic Eraser for removing unwanted objects and Best Take to avoid awkward poses in group photos.
Under the hood, both the Google Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL are powered by a Tensor G4 chipset, accompanied by the Titan M2 security chipset. They offer 16GB RAM and up to 1TB storage. The Pixel 9 Pro is equipped with a 4,700mAh battery, while the Pro XL houses a 5,060mAh battery with 45W fast charging support.
