GMKtec has introduced a new mini PC named the GMK M8 in China. It comes equipped with an older AMD Rembrandt generation processor, the Ryzen 5 Pro 6650H, which includes six Zen 3+ cores along with the Radeon 660M integrated GPU.

Performance Overview

With its six-core configuration, the Ryzen 5 Pro 6650H in the GMK M8 is expected to manage everyday tasks effectively. However, the integrated GPU is not powerful enough for enjoyable gaming experiences. Our tests show that the Radeon 660M has difficulty running current AAA titles at 1080p, even when set to the lowest graphical settings.

Connectivity Features

On the bright side, the GMK M8 includes an OCuLink port, enabling users to connect an external GPU (eGPU) for improved gaming capabilities (the GMKtec AD-GP1 is priced at $469.79 on Amazon). Additionally, it features a USB4 port, enhancing eGPU compatibility and allowing for high-speed accessory connections. The other ports are listed as follows:

For wireless connectivity, the mini PC supports WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. GMK also mentions that the USB4, DisplayPort, and HDMI ports allow for triple-display output. The mini PC can be powered via the USB4 Type-C port.

Storage and Pricing

Furthermore, the CPU of the GMK M8 can be combined with up to 16 TB of storage through its two PCIe 3.0 slots. However, the RAM is not upgradeable, featuring 16 GB of LPDDR5 memory that is soldered in and operates at a speed of 6,400 MT/s.

As for pricing, the model with a 512 GB SSD is available for CNY 1,999 in China, which is roughly $280. There’s also a second variant offering 1 TB of storage, priced at CNY 2,299, or about $323. Although GMK has yet to announce a global release, considering the brand’s history, the M8 is likely to hit the international market soon.
