We are inching closer to the launch of the sixth-generation Galaxy foldables. Some earlier rumors suggested that the phone would feature a wider cover display, which has been a popular demand since the inception of foldable phones.
Book-style foldables, such as the Z Fold series, are designed to function like standard smartphones when closed, with a larger display inside. However, Samsung's taller aspect ratio for the inner display results in a significantly narrower outer display, making the phone less convenient to use in its closed state compared to a traditional bar phone.
Enhanced User Experience
Devices with wider aspect ratios, like the Pixel Fold and OnePlus Open, highlight this disparity. Therefore, a wider outer display on the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to offer a considerably improved user experience compared to previous Galaxy foldables, reinforcing its market position.
Protective Case Revealed
Recently, an image of a protective case for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, shared by US-based case manufacturer Thinborne on X (formerly Twitter), shows a very similar aspect ratio to the Z Flip 5. You can view the image below:
An earlier leaked image had indicated that the cover display would only be a few millimeters wider and feature sharper corners. Notably, the display borders are expected to be almost symmetrical this time around.
Inner Display Specifications
Regarding the inner display, it will be a 7.6″ foldable AMOLED panel. While the display size remains unchanged, the aspect ratio will be slightly wider, making the phone shorter and wider. Additionally, the new model is rumored to be 15 grams lighter than its predecessor.
