  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 May Fall Short Against Competing Foldables

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 May Fall Short Against Competing Foldables

    Key Takeaways

    1. The Galaxy Z Fold7 will feature a slimmer and lighter design compared to the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.
    2. Upgrades include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and improved S Pen support.
    3. The Galaxy Z Fold7 will only have an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance, which is lower than some competitors.
    4. The device will be unveiled on July 9 during Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event, alongside the Galaxy Watch8 series and two Galaxy Z Flip models.
    5. Concerns exist about the Galaxy Z Fold7’s durability compared to competitors like the Vivo X Fold5 and the rumored Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

Samsung is gearing up to introduce several enhancements to its Galaxy Z Fold lineup this month with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold7. Recent leaks suggest that this new model will outshine the Galaxy Z Fold6 (currently priced at $999.99 for refurbished units on Amazon) and the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition by featuring a much slimmer and lighter design compared to both models. Other expected upgrades include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and improved S Pen support as well.

    Lagging Behind in Durability

On the other hand, leaker PandaFlashPro has indicated that Samsung might not keep up with its competitors in an aspect where it has historically been ahead. The leaker suggests that the Galaxy Z Fold7 will only be IP48 certified for dust and water resistance. To clarify, this certification means the Galaxy Z Fold7 should remain water-resistant when submerged in at least one meter of water. However, the IP4 rating simply ensures that the device can resist solid particles that are around 1 mm in size.

    Competing Devices

This certification implies that while the Galaxy Z Fold7 will have better dust resistance compared to the Find N5, which Oppo has not certified in this area, it will still fall short of the X Fold5, which Vivo claims has an IP59 rating. Furthermore, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is rumored to be the first foldable device to achieve an IP68 rating, ensuring complete protection against dust. The Galaxy Z Fold7 is set to be unveiled alongside the Galaxy Watch8 series and two models of the Galaxy Z Flip on July 9 during Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event.

In summary, while there are exciting upgrades on the horizon for the Galaxy Z Fold7, there are also some concerns regarding its durability compared to competitors in the market.

  • Galaxy Foldables Heading to US: Two Models with Exynos Chip

Galaxy Foldables Heading to US: Two Models with Exynos Chip

    Key Takeaways

    1. Samsung will use Exynos chips in the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Flip7 FE, even for US versions, marking a shift in their chip strategy.
    2. The Galaxy Z Flip7 is expected to feature the new 3nm Exynos 2500 chip, while the Flip7 FE may use the Exynos 2400.
    3. The Galaxy Z Fold7 will continue to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, ensuring its high-end performance remains intact.
    4. Benchmark tests suggest the Exynos 2500 offers significant performance improvements, though real-world thermal performance is still uncertain.
    5. Samsung has started pre-reservations for the devices, offering trade-in savings and early sign-up credits, indicating confidence in the Exynos chips for the US market.

Samsung is set to host its highly anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9, 2025, and one aspect has caught the attention of fans — the chipset. The company is opting for Exynos chips in two of the three upcoming foldable devices, including those intended for the US market.

    Galaxy Z Flip7 and Flip7 FE Details

A recent leak (from Sammobile) indicates that both the Galaxy Z Flip7 and its more affordable counterpart, the Z Flip7 FE, will use Samsung’s own Exynos processors, even for the US versions. This represents a significant change in Samsung’s chip approach — these foldables will be the first to utilize Exynos and are among the rare Galaxy flagship devices in the US to feature Samsung’s proprietary chips.

The premium Flip7 is anticipated to be powered by the new 3nm Exynos 2500 chip, while the FE version may come equipped with the Exynos 2400, the same processor rumored for the Galaxy S24 FE.

    Z Fold7 Retains Snapdragon

On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Fold7, Samsung’s top-tier foldable, is confirmed to stick with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, ensuring its high-end performance remains unchanged.

SamMobile implies that the Exynos 2500 could suit the Flip7 better than the Snapdragon 8 Elite, considering thermal issues with the slim Galaxy S25 Edge. However, this theory faces a hurdle: the Z Fold7 is actually thinner than the Flip7. This raises doubts about the speculation. It’s more probable that Samsung’s choice to incorporate Exynos in the Flip7 is driven by cost-efficiency, particularly since the Flip doesn’t require the extreme performance of the larger Fold. The Exynos 2400 in the Flip7 FE is still a robust chip, potentially allowing Samsung to maintain a competitive price.

    Benchmark Insights and Pre-Reservations

Benchmark tests for the Exynos 2500 indicate significant performance improvements compared to its predecessor, but actual thermal performance in real-life scenarios remains uncertain. The Flip7 is also expected to feature larger displays — a 4-inch outer display and a 6.85-inch foldable screen — providing ample room for apps and multitasking.

Samsung has already initiated pre-reservations on its website, offering up to $1,150 in trade-in savings and a $50 credit for early sign-ups.

Should the use of Exynos in US models be accurate, it could represent a daring cost-saving tactic, especially with Samsung having faith in the chips’ capabilities. Whether this risk pays off — and how customers in the US respond — will be revealed once the devices are available for purchase.

  • Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini: 6.3-Inch Display and iPhone 17 Camera Design

Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini: 6.3-Inch Display and iPhone 17 Camera Design

    Key Takeaways

    1. The Xiaomi 16 series is expected to launch by the end of September and will feature four models: Xiaomi 16, Xiaomi 16 Pro, Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini, and Xiaomi 16 Ultra.
    2. The Pro variants will come in two display sizes—6.3 inches and 6.8 inches—with a large horizontal camera module on the back.
    3. Enhanced photography features are anticipated, including a periscope telephoto lens on both Pro models and possibly a secondary display on the Ultra model.
    4. A leaked image indicates a new “big matrix” camera design for the Pro models, with wide, horizontally aligned camera lens protectors.
    5. The entire lineup will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, promising advanced performance and capabilities.

Several sources have suggested that the Xiaomi 16 series of flagship smartphones will launch by the end of September this year. The Xiaomi 14 and 15 series consisted of three models: standard, Pro, and Ultra. However, a recent leak from tipster Digital Chat Station indicates that the 16 series will feature as many as four models.

Xiaomi 16 Series Will Feature Four Models

The Xiaomi 16 series is expected to have four distinct models. According to DCS, the Pro variants will be available in two display sizes—6.3 inches and 6.8 inches. Each version is said to have a large, horizontal camera module that takes up nearly one-third of the back panel. This marks the first time Xiaomi will offer a compact-sized Pro variant in this series. The regular Xiaomi 16 is also likely to come with a 6.3-inch display, while the lineup could include the Xiaomi 16, Xiaomi 16 Pro, Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini (tentative name), and Xiaomi 16 Ultra.

    Enhanced Photography Features

Both Pro models are rumored to feature a periscope telephoto lens, promising improved photography capabilities. The Ultra model, which might also be called the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max, could include a secondary display on the back, similar to the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra.

    Camera Module Design Insights

A leaked image from the tipster showcases camera lens protectors with wide, horizontally aligned layouts, aligning with the rumors about the Xiaomi 16 Pro’s new “big matrix” camera design. The image suggests two Pro sizes (6.3 and 6.8 inches) and shows a cutout for the periscope telephoto lens. This leak supports the idea that Xiaomi is embracing a bold new camera module design for its upcoming flagship devices. While the design is innovative, it bears a resemblance to the horizontal camera setup seen in recent leaks of the iPhone 17 series.

The entire Xiaomi 16 lineup is anticipated to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, set to launch in September this year. This new flagship chipset features Qualcomm’s second-generation Oryon CPU architecture and is manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process. The GPU has a 16MB independent cache and is projected to achieve Geekbench 6 scores exceeding 4,000 in single-core and 11,000 in multi-core tests.

    2. Honor plans to release its flagship Magic 8 series, likely featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, around the same time as Xiaomi.
    3. The Honor Magic 8 series may include four models with varying screen sizes: 6.3-inch, 6.58-inch, 6.7-inch, and a large 6.9-inch device.
    4. The 6.58-inch model, believed to be the Honor Magic 8, is currently testing a mid-range periscope camera.
    5. Honor is also developing a mid-range device with a screen size close to 7 inches.

The Xiaomi 16, featuring this new processor, is expected to launch by the end of September. Another brand that plans to roll out flagship smartphones utilizing the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 around the same time is Honor. The Honor Magic 8 series, which might be revealed in late September or early October, is confirmed to include this cutting-edge processor.

    Honor Magic 8 Series Models

Recent information from Digital Chat Station (DCS) suggests that the Magic 8 series could consist of four different models. This lineup is rumored to feature a compact flagship known as the Magic 8 Mini, alongside a large 6.9-inch device. According to DCS, the models may vary in screen sizes, including 6.3-inch, 6.58-inch, and 6.7-inch displays. While there’s no solid proof yet, it seems that all models could be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2.

    Details on Individual Models

DCS has mentioned that Honor has not yet finalized the 6.3-inch model, which is speculated to be the Magic 8 Mini. This particular device is not expected to release at the same time as the Magic 8 and 8 Pro, as per the insider. The 6.58-inch variant, believed to be the Honor Magic 8, is currently undergoing tests with a mid-range periscope camera, using OmniVision OV64B and Sony IMX882 periscope cameras in the ongoing engineering prototype.

The Honor Magic 8 Pro, potentially featuring a 6.7-inch display, is said to be in testing with a 200-megapixel periscope camera that has a larger sensor. DCS has also mentioned that this flagship lineup may include a 6.9-inch model, possibly named the Honor Magic 8 Max or Ultra, although no further details were shared regarding it.

    Mid-Range Developments

Furthermore, in the mid-range market, Honor is reportedly developing a new device with an even larger screen—approximately 6.96 inches—bringing it quite close to the 7-inch threshold.

The Pixel 10 series is poised to make its debut on August 20, with sales commencing on August 28.

  • Samsung Galaxy M36 Launch: Why M35 is Still the Better Choice

Samsung Galaxy M36 Launch: Why M35 is Still the Better Choice

    Key Takeaways

    1. Galaxy M36 5G Launched, but M35 5G Still Strong: The Galaxy M35 5G remains a competitive option in Samsung’s mid-range budget category despite the release of the M36.

    2. Impressive Display: The M35 features a 6.6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1000 nits brightness for outdoor use.

    3. Durability: The M35 is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+, adding to its durability compared to other devices in its price range.

    4. Similar Visual Experience: Both the M35 and M36 have AMOLED technology and a 120Hz refresh rate, offering similar visual quality despite minor design differences.

    5. Budget-Friendly Choice: The Galaxy M35 5G is a sensible option for buyers looking for a Samsung smartphone under Rs. 20,000.

Samsung has launched the Galaxy M36 5G, but the Galaxy M35 5G remains a strong contender in the budget category of Samsung’s mid-range lineup. Released last year, the M35 strikes a good balance with its reliable hardware, extended software support, and impressive battery life—features that the new M36 does not significantly enhance. If you’re searching for a budget-friendly Samsung smartphone priced under Rs. 20,000, the M35 remains a wise and sensible choice.

    Display That Still Feels Premium

The Galaxy M35 5G comes equipped with a 6.6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate, providing bright colors and seamless scrolling. The brightness can reach up to 1000 nits, making outdoor usage a breeze. Additionally, it is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+, giving it an advantage in durability within this price range.

In contrast, while the M36 slightly increases the display size to 6.7 inches and adopts an Infinity-U notch, the overall viewing experience does not change much. Both devices feature AMOLED technology and maintain the 120Hz refresh rate, meaning you receive similar visual quality, with only minor differences in design. For users who prefer the sleeker Infinity-O punch-hole design, the M35 appears more contemporary, even though it is the older model.

    3. Geekbench scores for the device show 725 points in single-core and 1201 points in multi-core tests.
    4. The phone may feature a 6.74-inch LCD HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a battery capacity of either 5,500mAh or 6,000mAh with 15W charging.
    5. It is likely to have a dual-camera setup, including a 50-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

Last year, Vivo introduced the Vivo Y19s, a 4G LTE smartphone featuring the Unisoc T612 chip in October. Earlier this year, they launched the Y19e, which comes with the Unisoc T7225 chip. Recently, the brand also released the Vivo Y19 5G and Y19s Pro, equipped with the Dimensity 6300 and Unisoc T612 chipsets, respectively. Now, there’s news that Vivo plans to launch the Vivo Y19s GT 5G in Indonesia. Before the anticipated release, the device has shown up on the Geekbench benchmarking site.

Geekbench Insights for Vivo Y19s GT 5G

According to reports, a Vivo device listed as V2526 has been spotted in Geekbench’s database. The information from the Indonesian SDPPI certification platform indicates that this smartphone will be named Vivo Y19s GT 5G when it becomes available in Indonesia. The Geekbench listing shows that the Vivo Y19s GT is powered by the Dimensity 6300 chip, along with 6GB of RAM and runs on Android 15. In the single-core test, it scored 725 points, while it achieved 1201 points in the multi-core tests.

    Speculation on Features

While detailed specifications for the phone are still unknown, it seems likely that it shares some features with other Vivo devices. The reason for this assumption lies in the Google Play Supported Devices listing, which shows that its V2446 device code is also used by other Vivo models, including the Vivo Y19 5G, T4 Lite 5G, Y29s 5G, and Y29t 5G. Hence, the Vivo Y19s GT 5G might come with a 6.74-inch LCD HD+ display that supports a 90Hz refresh rate. It will likely be powered by the D6300 SoC, paired with 6GB of RAM, and a battery capacity of either 5,500mAh or 6,000mAh, featuring 15W charging. For cameras, it may have a dual-camera setup with a 50-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

    2. A leak indicates that a new Redmi phone with over an 8,000mAh battery is in development, but specifics about the Poco F8 are unclear.
    3. Possible successors to previous models like the Redmi Turbo 4 and K80 Ultra may also have batteries exceeding 8,000mAh.
    4. The Poco F8 could be based on the upcoming Redmi Turbo 5 Pro, potentially featuring an 8,000mAh battery and a 6.8-inch flat display.
    5. The Redmi Note 15 series is expected to launch around September 2024, followed by the Xiaomi 16 series and Redmi K90 lineup.

Last week, Poco introduced the highly anticipated Poco F7, which comes with a huge 7,550mAh battery. Recently, a leak from the reliable tipster Digital Chat Station indicates that the upcoming Poco F8 might have an even bigger battery of 8,000mAh.

Battery Rumors Surrounding the Poco F8

There are talks about a new Redmi phone featuring a battery over 8,000mAh being developed. It’s important to mention that recently, the Poco brand has not been very active in the Chinese market, and the tipster did not specifically mention the Poco F8 in his post. Instead, he referred to a high-performance Redmi device expected to be released in 2026, which will have a flat display measuring about 6.8 inches and a battery that exceeds the 8,000mAh capacity.

    Possible Successors to Previous Models

The tipster might be talking about successors to the Redmi Turbo 4, Turbo 4 Pro, or the Redmi K80 Ultra. To remind you, these previous models had batteries of 6,550mAh, 7,550mAh, and 7,410mAh, respectively. This new leak suggests that the Redmi Turbo 5 Pro, the K90 Ultra, or both could potentially have batteries that go beyond the 8,000mAh threshold.

    Future Speculations

Given that the Poco F7 (specifically for the Indian market) is essentially a rebranded version of the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, it seems plausible that the Poco F8 could be based on the forthcoming Redmi Turbo 5 Pro. If that is the case, the F8 might also feature an 8,000mAh battery and a 6.8-inch flat screen, which aligns with the information from DCS.

At this moment, it’s premature to make guesses about the launches in 2026. For the upcoming year, DCS hinted in another post on Weibo that the Redmi Note 15 series might be released around the middle of the second half of the year, likely suggesting a launch in September in China. Additionally, the Xiaomi 16 series and the Redmi K90 lineup are expected to follow closely after. Various reports indicate that the Xiaomi 16 series could potentially debut by the end of September in China.
