  • NVIDIA RTX 4070 and 4060 Graphics Cards Discontinuation News

NVIDIA RTX 4070 and 4060 Graphics Cards Discontinuation News

Some gamers might be wishing for a chance to grab an older Nvidia graphics card at a lower price once the RTX 50 series hits the market. The new GPUs come with DLSS 4’s Multi Frame Generation, which claims to provide major performance enhancements. However, the RTX 40 series still holds up well in terms of power, even without this new feature. Sadly, retailers are already preparing for the discontinuation of the RTX 4070 and RTX 4060.

    Report on Stock Levels

According to a report from the Taiwanese tech site iThome, a dealer has confirmed that the RTX 4070 will not be restocked after January. With the RTX 5060 not expected until March or even later, the RTX 4060 is likely to be available for an extended period. Since iThome primarily operates in Chinese, translations regarding Nvidia’s inventory updates quickly circulated on X accounts.

    Manufacturer’s Track Record

This news isn’t particularly shocking, given Nvidia’s past behavior. Even without an official announcement to stop production of the RTX 3080, it became nearly impossible to find a new one once the 40 series was released. The GPU titan is shifting its focus to the RTX 50 series, with the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 set to launch on January 30th, followed by the RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti in February.

    Consumer Impact

Halting the production of older generation GPUs so early is likely to annoy some consumers. The stock of RTX 4080 and RTX 4080 Super has already dropped quite a bit. Nvidia might be trying to prevent price hikes on these models when buyers can’t order the new 50 series GPUs. However, having fewer options usually doesn’t help consumers, especially if the new cards fail to deliver the expected performance improvements.

  • Legion Go S vs ROG Ally X: Ryzen Z2 Go Gaming Performance Showdown

Legion Go S vs ROG Ally X: Ryzen Z2 Go Gaming Performance Showdown

At CES 2025, AMD unveiled three new APUs designed for gaming handhelds: the entry-level Rembrandt-based Ryzen Z2 Go, alongside the Hawk Point-based Ryzen Z2 and the Strix Point-based Z2 Extreme. The Ryzen Z2 Go features 4 cores and 16 threads, and it will be the powerhouse for the budget-friendly Legion Go S, which is now up for pre-order in the US, UK, and Europe.

    Performance Comparison

A recent video from Fps Vn on YouTube has showcased how the Lenovo Legion Go S performs in comparison to the Ryzen Z1 Extreme-powered ROG Ally X across three different games. In contrast to the Ryzen Z2 Go, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme is built on a more powerful octa-core architecture. However, when it comes to graphics performance, both APUs are similarly equipped, having 12 compute units each. According to the video, the Ryzen Z2 Go falls short by approximately 7-10% in gaming performance when compared to the Z1 Extreme.

    Game Performance Results

In the game Black Myth: Wukong, running on medium settings at 720p and both APUs limited to 15 watts, the ROG Ally X with the Ryzen Z1 Extreme achieved an average of around 40 FPS, while the Legion Go S with the Ryzen Z2 Go reached 36 FPS. When testing Cyberpunk 2077 under the same conditions, the Legion Go S produced 50 FPS, while the Ally X slightly surpassed it with 54 FPS. The results were similar in Ghost of Tsushima, where the ROG Ally X and the Legion Go S recorded 62 and 66 FPS, respectively. Even when the resolution was boosted to 1080p at medium settings with FSR, the performance remained consistent, with the Z2 Go and Z1 Extreme both delivering 62 and 66 FPS, respectively.

    Price and Specifications

It’s clear that the Ryzen Z1 Extreme will outperform the Ryzen Z2 Go in terms of CPU capabilities, as the latter has only half the physical cores. The Legion Go S powered by the Z2 Go, which runs on SteamOS, is expected to retail for around $500, making it a much cheaper option compared to the ROG Ally X, while still providing a comparable gaming experience in most titles. On the other hand, the Ryzen Z2 Extreme will feature an integrated GPU with 16 CUs and is likely to be included in higher-end handheld devices, offering a significant improvement in graphics performance.

As the protector of humanity’s final fortress, you must withstand unending attacks from the Nightmares, which come in many shapes and sizes. Your objective is to survive their constant onslaught while gradually reclaiming the human territory. In the end, you will face the ultimate challenge, a grand, climactic assault that will thoroughly test your determination.

Gathering Resources and Building Your Forces

During daylight hours, players collect resources, enhance their stronghold, and recruit various troops like tough melee warriors, adept archers, and formidable siege units. You can also lead heroic figures with special skills that can change the course of battle. As night approaches, the Nightmares unleash massive waves of assaults that become more difficult with each night that passes. A key highlight of Age of Darkness is its SwarmTech technology, which can display tens of thousands of enemies on-screen at the same time. Besides the main mode, which builds up to the epic final stand, players can also challenge themselves in a survival mode where the main aim is to fend off the unending Nightmare attacks for as long as you can.

    Review and Early Access Journey

Age of Darkness: Final Stand began its Early Access in October 2021 and has since received over 6,000 reviews, with 80% being favorable. Players frequently criticize the campaign for demanding significant time investment without offering substantial rewards. Many also perceive the gameplay as monotonous, as powerful unit combinations often overshadow other tactics. Despite these drawbacks, the game currently tops Steam’s “New and Trending” lists. To mark its full launch on January 15, developer PlaySide is providing a generous 65% discount, bringing the price down to around $9.79 from $27. This offer is valid until January 27.

Final Thoughts on the Game’s Launch

Steam users have also highlighted the need for more variety in gameplay. However, the excitement surrounding the game’s release has kept it at the forefront of the platform, encouraging new players to join. Even with its flaws, the game continues to pull in a dedicated fan base, eager to face the Nightmares and protect what remains of humanity. The thrilling challenge of survival against overwhelming odds keeps players engaged, making it a noteworthy title in the survival strategy genre.

  • Beware of Steam Phishing Scam: Protect Your Login Credentials

Beware of Steam Phishing Scam: Protect Your Login Credentials

Phishing scams are on the rise. A new threat has emerged on Steam, where fake playtest invitations are being used to deceive users into giving away their login details. Reddit discussions are highlighting a case about a supposed playtest for Mafia: The Old Country, although the game involved might change with each phishing attempt. These invitations contain links that look like official Steam URLs but actually lead to fake sites asking users to log in, which results in stealing their credentials. Here is an example of a fake playtest invite below:

    Previous Phishing Attacks

Phishing scams have also targeted other platforms, such as Facebook, Netflix, and PayPal. For example, Netflix users have received fraudulent emails that ask for billing information, directing them to fake websites. Additionally, during the pandemic, delivery scams impersonating companies like FedEx saw a significant increase, particularly due to the surge in online shopping at that time.

    Tips for Staying Safe

To protect themselves, users should always check URLs to ensure they correspond to official domains like store.steampowered.com. It’s important to note that Steam will alert you when a URL attempts to open an external browser page. Using tools such as VirusTotal or URLScan can help verify links safely. Enabling two-factor authentication is also crucial. In the Reddit comments, Steam users have been urging Valve to take action by flagging harmful links and enhancing awareness through notifications across the platform. Community members have stressed the need to report suspicious links to help safeguard others.

    The Evolving Threat

As phishing schemes keep changing, they will not only focus on gaming platforms but also target everyday online services. Being vigilant, examining links closely, and maintaining good digital practices are key to staying secure on the internet.

  • January PlayStation Plus Games: God of War Ragnarok Leads

January PlayStation Plus Games: God of War Ragnarok Leads

Monthly PlayStation Plus games don’t always wow with big-name releases. Luckily, this January is a standout, as Sony is rolling out several classic and newer AAA titles. Starting on January 21st, the legendary action-adventure, God of War Ragnarok, takes center stage. Also noteworthy is Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, a spin-off of the beloved Japanese crime drama series. These games are part of the nine titles being added to the PlayStation Plus Premium Tier, with two more included in the PlayStation Plus Extra Tier.

    The God of War Legacy

The God of War franchise has persuaded many gamers to buy Sony consoles, beginning with its introduction on the PS2 back in 2005. God of War Ragnarok features a gripping narrative rooted in Scandinavian mythology. This game offers an epic journey, surpassing expectations in terms of content and playtime. While some players mention a slow pacing due to its length, the breathtaking graphics and polished combat mechanics manage to charm most critics.

New Gameplay in Like a Dragon

Most Like a Dragon titles are known for their intense beat-em-up gameplay. However, the 2023 release of Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name adds an optional Agent fighting style along with a variety of neat gadgets. Initially, the game was planned as downloadable content for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, which launched just a few months later. As a result, some reviewers felt that its storyline lacked the strength to stand independently. Nevertheless, it’s definitely worth a try as part of January’s PlayStation Plus lineup.

    Full List of Titles

Here are the other nine games being included:

    – Atlas Fallen: Reign of Sand
    – SD Gundam Battle Alliance
    – Sayonara Wild Hearts
    – ANNO: Mutationem
    – Orcs Must Die 3
    – Citizen Sleeper
    – Poker Club
    – Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings
    – Medievil 2

Until Indiana Jones and the Great Circle arrives on the PS5 this Spring, PlayStation fans will need to turn to older titles. Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings isn’t exactly the ultimate whip-cracking adventure, having received a tepid response back in 2009. Many of the complaints were about the inaccurate Wii motion controls, but PS5 users can use regular controllers. For both Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings and Medievil 2, players will require a PlayStation Plus Platinum tier subscription.

PlayStation Plus games are only available for a limited time, so don’t hesitate. Once you download a title, it stays available for as long as you have a subscription.

  • AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Specs and January 23 Launch Details Leaked

AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Specs and January 23 Launch Details Leaked

AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 RDNA 4 GPU release has been quite strange, filled with mystery. While the new architecture and GPUs were acknowledged at CES 2025, not much was disclosed about their specs or performance. Since that event, a wave of leaks and speculations has emerged, hinting at what we might see from these new GPUs.

    Retail Listings Leak Details

Recently, a leak from Danish retailer Foniks revealed that the AMD Radeon RX 9070 and 9070 XT GPUs have been listed on their site ahead of time. Sadly, the listings do not provide extensive details, but they do confirm the VRAM amounts for the RX 9070 and 9070 XT, along with a possible launch date for retail.

    Expected Launch and Pricing

Earlier leaks suggested that the RDNA 4 GPUs would officially launch on January 15; however, it now appears that they will actually be available for purchase starting January 23. Pricing is still not officially verified, but the converted prices listed by Foniks suggest the GPUs could cost over $1,000 (with the RX 9070 priced at $1,048 and the XT variant at $1,282).

    Specifications Breakdown

Furthermore, the Foniks listing has confirmed earlier speculations that both the RX 9070 and 9070 XT will come equipped with 16 GB of GDDR6 VRAM. This information is also supported by another retail leak from Geizhals, which offers more in-depth specifications.

According to the German retailer, the Gigabyte Aorus AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Elite that was listed too early will feature a 256-bit memory bus, 64 compute units (which equals 4,096 stream processors), 256 TMUs, 96 ROPs, and 64 RT cores. This is somewhat less than the existing AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT (currently priced at $719.99 at Best Buy), which boasts 5,376 stream processors, 84 RT cores, and 84 compute units.

    Spec Comparisons and Confirmation

It’s important to remember that raw specs are not always comparable between different GPU generations, and some of the information from Geizhals might just be placeholder text. However, a lot of what is listed has already been confirmed, such as the RDNA 4 architecture and the 16 GB of VRAM, making it seem less likely that the information is inaccurate. Similar to Foniks, Geizhals also indicates that the RX 9070 series will be available for retail on January 24.
