  • New Xbox 360 Jailbreak Software Only Needs USB Drive

New Xbox 360 Jailbreak Software Only Needs USB Drive

    Key Takeaways

    1. The Xbox 360 has been resistant to hacking, but a new software-only hack called FreeMyXe is emerging.
    2. FreeMyXe operates alongside the BadUpdate exploit, which requires either Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland or Rock Band Blitz.
    3. Users can easily set up the exploit by downloading a free trial of the game and placing it on a USB drive.
    4. The hack requires firmware version 2.0.17559.0 and it’s recommended to keep the console offline to avoid bans from Microsoft.
    5. FreeMyXe is a tethered jailbreak, meaning it needs to be re-run if the console is turned off or crashes, but improvements may lead to an untethered jailbreak in the future.

While hacking consoles and modifying software isn’t something new, there are certain consoles that have managed to resist hackers and those looking to exploit them. The Xbox 360 is one of these consoles. Over the years, a few exploits have appeared, but they either require changing hardware or buying a specific game, which has led to an increase in prices on platforms like eBay. However, this is changing with a new software-only hack that only needs a USB flash drive.

    The New Exploit

The hack, referred to as FreeMyXe, operates alongside another exploit called BadUpdate. The current version 1.1 of BadUpdate necessitates the use of either Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland or Rock Band Blitz. Users can choose to get either the complete retail version of Rock Band Blitz or a free trial version, which is what FreeMyXe utilizes.

    Simple Setup Process

Basically, the free trial of the game can be downloaded at no cost and then moved to the root of a USB drive. Users can then place the exploits on this USB drive, along with any homebrew or other unsigned apps they might want. There’s a bit more setup involved (which is outlined in the YouTube video from Modern Vintage Gamer below), but the whole process is quite easy and, perhaps most importantly, free.

The hack requires firmware version 2.0.17559.0, and it’s advisable to disconnect the exploited console from the Internet to prevent any chance of a console ban from Microsoft.

    Important Considerations

There is one important point to note about this exploit: it is technically a tethered jailbreak. This means that if the console is turned off or crashes after running the exploit, it has to be re-run once the console is switched back on. The process takes around 15-20 minutes to finish. However, there’s a good chance that this exploit could be improved to result in an untethered jailbreak, leading to a genuine softmod.

    Key Takeaways

    1. A survey by World.org found that many gamers face issues with unauthorized bots in multiplayer games.
    2. The survey involved 818 adult gamers from the US across various gaming platforms.
    3. World.org partnered with Razer to launch “Razer ID verified by World ID” to confirm real players using single sign-on (SSO) technology.
    4. The first game to implement this feature is the competitive title Tokyo Beast.
    5. If successful, SSO technology may be expanded to more popular competitive games in the future.

A recent survey carried out by World.org last month has shown that many gamers frequently encounter unauthorized bots while gaming. This online research involved 818 adults from the US who engage in multiplayer games on various platforms like mobile devices, PC, or consoles.

    Key Findings from the Survey

Among the important results, it was noted that due to rising worries, World.org has joined forces with Razer to launch “Razer ID verified by World ID.” This new system uses single sign-on (SSO) technology tailored specifically for gaming to confirm that players are real humans. The first game expected to include this feature is the highly anticipated competitive title Tokyo Beast.

    Future of the SSO Technology

Details on how long the SSO technology will be exclusive to Razer ID remain limited. If this initiative is successful, there’s a good chance that SSO might eventually be introduced in more popular competitive games.

Both pieces were taken down, but keen-eyed fans managed to screenshot them before removal. IGN Brasil rated the game a 9 out of 10, offering a fairly detailed overview. In contrast, Console Creatures, with fewer details available on OpenCritic, gave Assassin’s Creed Shadows an 8 out of 10.

    Positive Feedback

Translated from Portuguese, IGN Brasil’s review of Assassin’s Creed Shadows highlights the action RPG’s strengths. The writer describes it as “one of the most iconic titles in the franchise.” According to the critic, it effectively balances combat and stealth mechanics within a Japanese setting that is fresh for the series. While the review does mention some negatives, it doesn’t elaborate on any specific issues.

As Ubisoft faces challenges, the company will soon find out if this game gives them the lift they need.

While the Assassin’s Creed subreddit and OpenCritic are buzzing with discussions, gamers remain eager for more information.

    1. Haply Robotics launched a Kickstarter campaign for the MinVerse, a 3D haptic mouse priced at $1,500 with early backer discounts.
    2. The MinVerse offers 3D control (X, Y, Z axes) for smoother handling of 3D objects, addressing limitations of traditional 2D mice.
    3. Competing products exist, but Haply aims to provide an affordable 3D mouse compared to devices like 3D Systems’ Touch at $3,400.
    4. The MinVerse features an open API for compatibility with software like Blender and RoboDK, enhancing its usability for creators.
    5. The mouse dimensions are 240 x 120 x 40 mm, weighing 1.2 kg, with an effective input range of 145 x 330 x 250 mm and force feedback of 0 to 4 N.

Haply Robotics has launched its Kickstarter campaign for the MinVerse 3D haptic mouse. This innovative 3D mouse enables 3D artists, gamers, drone enthusiasts, and robotics fans to handle 3D objects more smoothly compared to a standard mouse. The MinVerse, which has a suggested retail price of $1,500, is offering early backer deals at a reduced price for delivery scheduled in the autumn of 2025.

    3D vs 2D Control

Traditional mice are limited to 2D functionality (X, Y axis), while many video games and 3D modeling software function in 3D space (X, Y, Z axis). This limitation has led users to adopt awkward setups, such as juggling a mouse and keyboard with both hands to manage objects in a three-dimensional environment.

    Competing Products

Several other companies have tried to develop similar 3D input devices. One early example is Novint, which is no longer in business, while 3D Systems currently offers the Touch haptic devices, starting at $3,400. Haply Robotics aims to reduce the cost of its USB mouse, making it accessible to a wider audience of creators and gamers.

    Specifications and Compatibility

The MinVerse features an open API for seamless integration into various applications, and Haply Robotics plans to ensure compatibility with Blender, RoboDK, and other Windows programs at launch.

    The dimensions of the MinVerse are 240 x 120 x 40 mm (9.4 x 4.7 x 1.6 in.), and it weighs 1.2 kg (2.6 lbs.). The effective input range for the mouse measures 145 x 330 x 250 mm (5.7 x 13.0 x 9.8 in.). Force feedback ranges from 0 to 4 N (0 to 0.9 lbf.).

For those looking to design 3D models for their games and virtual creations without needing haptic feedback, a more affordable option is the 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse, which can be found on Amazon.
