Valor Mortis Delayed? GTA 6 Causes September Game Logjam

    Key Takeaway

    – Valor Mortis may delay its September 24 launch due to the crowded release window.
    – GTA 6’s November 19 release threatens to dominate sales for months.
    – October is being considered as a safer alternative for Valor Mortis.
    – The game’s unique first-person Napoleonic soulslike combat is a key selling point.
    – Analysts project GTA 6 could sell 25 million copies in its first 24 hours.

Valor Mortis September Launch Was Seen as Smart

Scheduling September launches for games like Valor Mortis seemed like a wise move. The GTA 6 release date lurks on November 19th, threatening to dominate sales for potentially months. However, after realizing how many titles will ship at the same time, One More Level is considering delaying the soulslike action-RPG.

Game Director Talks About Release Date Lock

Game Director Radoslaw Ratusznik spoke to PCGamesN following its Xbox Games Showcase trailer. Addressing how the company will contend with a packed month. Ratusznik replied, “I wouldn’t say it’s locked”, referring to the Valor Mortis debut on September 24th.

    Thinking About the Right Window

The director continued, “We will be thinking about it during the next few days, and I think we will find the right spot” for the game. Deciding on the ideal window for a title is likely a dilemma other publishers targeting September face. Either they risk being swallowed up by the GTA 6 release date or take on an army of AAA arrivals.

    Unique Soulslike Experience Promised

Although the One More Level project joins an increasing number of soulslike options, Valor Mortis promises a unique experience. The combat unfolds from a first-person perspective, making battles feel more intense. A Napoleonic theme that blends history and the supernatural has also intrigued gamers.

    Buyers Have Limited Funds

Even with appealing selling points, most buyers don’t have infinite funds. The Blood of Dawnwalker may also appeal to players who enjoy grim atmospheres. Other September candidates include Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Control Resonant, and Marvel’s Wolverine.

October Could Be a Sensible Alternative

If One More Level resolves to postpone the Valor Mortis release date, October is a sensible alternative. There are still notable games to consider, with Gears of War: E-Day, Phantom Blade Zero, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 among them. Regardless, it could be slightly easier to gain attention. Otherwise, February 2027 is quickly becoming crowded, led by the Fable reboot.

    Challenging Rockstar Games

Any publisher courageous enough to challenge Rockstar Games may contend with historic GTA 6 sales. Some analysts project 25 million copies sold in its first 24 hours alone. Of course, despite growing optimism about a November launch, a third delay isn’t out of the question.

    • Valor Mortis release date: September 24th (currently not locked)
    • GTA 6 release date: November 19th
    • Soulslike action-RPG with first-person combat
    • Napoleonic theme blending history and supernatural
    • October alternative includes Gears of War: E-Day, Phantom Blade Zero, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
    • February 2027 crowded with Fable reboot
    • Analysts project 25 million GTA 6 copies in first 24 hours

    – It features a magnetic removable cover that acts as back support for the console.

    – It is compatible with the Nintendo Switch, Switch OLED, and Switch 2.
    – Pricing and release date have not yet been announced.

    Gulikit Reveals New Switch Dock

The Nintendo Switch 2 comes with a dock in the box, but their is several third-party options available too. Gulikit plans to add another to the list, as its shared a teaser of there upcoming dock for Nintendo Switch systems.

    Portable Design and Build Materials

Gulikits new dock doesnt have an official name yet, but the teaser shared on X reveals the dock is portable, making it a suitable alternative to the main dock while traveling. It appears to be made of aluminum with a plastic underside. The base have slip-resistant feet and vents for heat dissipation.

What is interesting about the dock is that it has a removable cover block for the USB-C connector. This cover magnetically attaches to the top of the dock, serving as back support for your Nintendo Switch. The video also shows that the dock has air intake vents flanking the USB-C connector on all sides.

    Ports and Features

The Gulikit dock has just three ports — an HDMI output port, a USB-A port, and a USB-C port for power input. There is also a button labelled dock mode, which should allow users to alternate between TV mode and dock mode. Gulikit says the dock is compatible with the Nintendo Switch, Switch OLED, and Switch 2. However, it hasnt revealed when it will launch and how much it will cost.

    Comparison to Earlier Model

Based on the video, Gulikits upcoming dock is an upgrade to its aging model, the NS05 Dock Set (available for $21.99). While the number of ports havent changed, we can expect some improvements such as support for a higher power input for the USB-C port and faster transfer speeds for the USB-A port.

Leaker Gets Death Threats for Zelda Ocarina of Time Remake Spoiler

    Key Takeaway

    – NateTheHate received death threats after accurately leaking the *Ocarina of Time* Switch 2 remake.
    – Many gamers preferred not knowing about the remake due to its brief, gameplay-free teaser.
    – Former Nintendo employees suggested the company should have changed its reveal strategy given the leak.
    – Nintendo’s secretive, channel-exclusive marketing frustrates fans who want more timely updates.
    – Despite leaks, Nintendo did not alter its June Direct plans, and some rumored games remain far off.

The June Nintendo Direct Wasn’t a surprise to supporters of NateTheHate

In March, the prolific leaker exposed Switch 2 games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. Following the showcase, fans blamed him for spoiling the return of Link. In some cases, they issued death threats to the insider.

NateTheHate shared a particularly disturbing comment left under a YouTube video

According to the podcaster, it’s just one example of the vitriol he recieves. A social media post explained how he reads “dozens of death threats each and every single day.” Most followers condemned the prospect of violence as a response to a leak. Nevertheless, many gamers would rather have been in the dark about the Ocarina of Time Switch 2 remake.

Adding to their disappointment, the Nintendo Direct trailer offered only a brief glimpse of the project

While it has a 2026 release date as predicted, viewers saw no gameplay. Had developers shown how it would improve on the original N64 title, it might have lessened the outrage levied at NateTheHate. During a recent podcast, former Nintendo employees Kit & Krystra argued that the company should have adjusted its plans. Given that mainstream media reported the Zelda leak, the short teaser was a letdown to the informed.

Not all gamers are angry when they learn about Switch 2 games in advance

Many of NateTheHate’s fans grow exasperated by the slow drip of updates surrounding the console. The Japanese gaming giant has barely any presence at events like the Summer Game Fest. It prefers to market through its own channels, but increasingly, news arrives closer to release dates.

Some observers believe the company has become even more secretive because of leaks

It confirmed the modernized Star Fox later than was rumored, announcing an immediate showcase on social media. Yet, it doesn’t seem that these reports impacted the June Nintendo Direct or the Ocarina of Time remake reveal. The insider had also hinted that Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave and a new Switch 2 sports title would appear. He once again was accurate, but an anticipated 3D Mario title may not be ready until 2027.

Xbox Layoffs Incoming: Insider Tips Major ‘Reset the Business’ Move

    Key Takeaway

    – Microsoft’s Xbox division is expected to undergo major layoffs after the fiscal year ends on June 30.
    – Xbox will also “significantly” cut its marketing budget and other areas.
    – CEO Asha Sharma stated Xbox revenue has dropped nearly half a billion dollars over the past five years.
    – The exact scale of the layoffs and which areas will be deprioritized remains unclear.

    Another Day, Another Layoff News

This time, it’s Microsoft employees who are on the chopping block, or so it seems, according to insider information. Specifically, the Xbox division is said to be heading towards mass layoffs, a first under the new leadership of CEO Asha Sharma. Blooomberg’s Jason Schreier has recieved information from people familiar with Microsoft’s strategy, pertaining to upcoming layoffs in the Xbox division. He claims that while the exact scale is unclear, the closing of Microsoft’s fiscal year on June 30 will be followed by major layoffs.

    Xbox Marketing Budget Cuts

Furthermore, Xbox is also said to “significantly” slash its marketing budget, along with cuts in some other areas as well. This comes shortly after Asha Sharma’s Bloomberg Tech interview, where she candidly spoke about the Xbox business not being in a healthy spot. She mentioned that some changes will have to be made, but did not talk about any restructuring. The Bloomberg report, however, does cite an email sent by her to employees outlining some revenue numbers. It said, “…our annual revenue has declined nearly half a billion during that time (the past five years). Going forward, this cannot continue.”

    Revenue Decline and Future Investments

It further talks about how things have grown over the past five years and that making the right investments moving forward is crucial. As mentioned earlier, it is unclear what the scale of the layoffs will be and what will get deprioritized. The news follows Ubisoft’s major shakeup, wherein two more studios have been shut down, and another has gone through layoffs, affecting around 380 employees. Blooomberg, Insider Gaming

  • Xbox CEO Asha Sharma exclusives criticism reposted by CSO Matthew Ball

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma exclusives criticism reposted by CSO Matthew Ball

    Key Takeaway

    – Xbox CEO Asha Sharma’s statements on exclusivity are seen as contradictory, causing fan confusion.
    – New CSO Matthew Ball’s accidental repost of criticism highlights potential leadership misalignment.
    – The June 7th showcase confirmed some key titles as Xbox/PC exclusive, but overall strategy remains unclear.
    – Profitability is now cited as the deciding factor for exclusivity, with case-by-case decisions adding uncertainty.
    – Retailers faced mixed signals, like the sudden delisting of PS5 pre-orders for Gears of War: E-Day.

Xbox Boss’s Words Spark Confusion Among Fans

Some fans have found Xbox CEO Asha Sharma’s statements about exclusivity contradictory. Content creator Timdog criticized her for conflicting positions on social media. Surprisingly, newly appointed Chief Strategy Officer Matthew Ball reposted the comments. Although he clarified it was a mix-up, it made gamers wonder if Xbox leadership is on the same page.

Timdog Calls Out Sharma’s Mixed Messages

The often-controversial Timdog said that Sharma has made “about 8” statements regarding Xbox exclusive games. He argued that the CEO only has a limited time to establish trust with her fanbase. Timdog then recommended that Microsoft task Matthew Ball with communicating the company’s plans.

As several observers noticed, Ball endorsed the comments by sharing them with other readers. The CSO later removed the repost, claiming he meant to retweet only a question from another gamer. Nevertheless, the apparent mistake has added to the confusion surrounding Microsoft’s multi-platform intentions.

Showcase Reveals Some Exclusives, But Questions Linger

Appeasing some critics, the June 7th Xbox Games Showcase welcomed several Xbox exclusive games. The Gears of War: E-Day release date on October 6th will not include a PS5 version, contrary to what many gamers had anticipated. Likewise, Clockwork Revolution will only ship for the Series X, S, and PCs when it launches in 2027.

The news left audiences wondering about the rationale for picking Xbox exclusives. Microsoft confirmed that games already announced for multiple platforms would not be affected. Yet, going forward, it’s not clear which titles will entice gamers to purchase first-party hardware. The CEO hinted at a case-by-case decision-making process, providing little clarity to fans.

Profits Will Guide Future Exclusivity Decisions

More recently, in a Fortune interview, the executive implied that future profits would influence those choices. Admitting that the “company isn’t healthy right now”, it can’t afford to exclude other gaming systems. If the outlook improves, Microsoft’s consoles could see a steady stream of unique software. However, that appears to be a more universal rule than previously described.

Retailers are also hearing mixed messages. The sudden Gears of War: E-Day pivot forced several stores to delist PS5 pre-orders before the Games Showcase. Sharma and Ball may not be at odds, but the company’s constantly evolving strategy is raising doubts.

1666 Amsterdam Faces Backlash Over ‘Oversight’

    Key Takeaway

    – Generative AI use in games triggers backlash, especially when unannounced.
    – 1666 Amsterdam faced criticism for AI-generated in-game portraits and marketing assets.
    – The developer called it an “oversight” and promised no AI in the full game.
    – Public perception is shaped by how and why AI is used, not just its presence.
    – The controversy undermines positive reception, even for veteran developers like Patrice Desilets.

    Generative AI and the Backlash

Generative AI in games seems to be becoming more common, but the way it is used is what defines public perception. The newly announced 1666 Amsterdam is the latest victim of backlash after the devs admitted to featuring content created by AI in there free prologue. This has caused quite a stir among gamers who feel tricked by the inclusion of these assets.

The Prologue and It’s AI Assets

1666 Amsterdam was showcased at Summer Game Fest, where the Creative Director at Panache Digital Games, Patrice Desilets, announced a free prologue out on Steam and Epic Games Store. Said prologue, as it turns out, uses some generative AI assets, and fans were quick to spot them. Not just the game, some of the marketing assets were also AI-generated. Panache Digital Games took to X to admit and apologize for the use of AI. They claimed it was a mistake.

    Oversight or Intentional Choice?

As per the post, some in-game portraits and external marketing assets were, in fact, AI-generated and made there way to the prologue. The team is calling it an oversight and promising that the full game will not include any assets generated by AI. Many are questioning wether this was truly an oversight or a calculated move that backfired.

What should have been a glorious return to making games for Desilets has turned out to be a dissapointment for fans. Desilets was one of the great minds behind the original Assassin’s Creed games and had to fight for years to bring his original IP, 1666 Amsterdam, to the public. Now, fans are upset with the use of AI and are accusing the team of intentionally using it for there game, and then calling it an oversight. How this will effect the full game release remains to be seen.

    • Prologue is free on Steam and Epic Games Store
    • AI assets included portraits and marketing material
    • Full game will not feature AI generated content
    • Creative Director Patrice Desilets previously worked on Assassin’s Creed

Tarkov Creator Details Fragmentary Order Differences

    Key Takeaway

    – Fragmentary Order is a space-based extraction shooter with maps five times larger than typical *Escape from Tarkov* locations.
    – The game features a long-term session model allowing players to stay in the same raid for one to two hours, with no requirement to extract.
    – It includes drivable vehicles and multiple game modes, including a PvE-focused mode at launch.
    – The game is grounded in reality, depicting a possible future with maps on Earth, Venus, and a partially terraformed Mars.

    New Details on Fragmentary Order

Following it’s big reveal back in March, the head of Rant Gaming studio, Nikita Buyanov, has now shared alot more information regarding Fragmentary Order. Just like his previous big project, Escape from Tarkov, the upcomming game is also an extraction shooter, though this time it is set in the vast reaches of space. But this is not simply Tarkov with a space skin; the developer claims it is considerably more ambitious in its scope.

    Comparing Scale and Setting

Speaking directly with Insider Gaming, Nikita provided some fresh details and even a few new screenshots of Fragmentary Order. Starting with the sheer magnitude of the game world, he explained the maps are “like five times more larger than a typical Tarkov location.” Players can anticipate a variety of different maps, including locations set on Earth, the planet Venus, a massive space station, and more environments besides. The studio has already shown off the Blue Mars map, which depict’s a partially terraformed version of the red planet.

A Grounded Future and New Mechanics

In his interview, the developer elaborated that Fragmentary Order remains grounded in reality, offering a plausible take on what humanitys future could actually look like. Discussing the core differences that separate this title from Tarkov, Nikita stated that the whole thing is based on a long-term session model, which will allow players to stay inside the same raid for one or even two full hours. Even though it has extraction shooter elements, players dont necessarily have to extract at all if they dont want to. The game will also contain drivable vehicles for the first time.

    Sandbox Modes and Availibility

There are going to be multiple game modes comming to Fragmentary Order, all of which aim to create a more open and sandbox environment for the player. While it is mostly categorised as a PvPvE game, there will be a dedicated PvE-focused game mode available right at launch. For the time being, it remains unclear exactly when players will be able to get thier hands on the very first playable build, but Nikita believes it will be out there quite soon. The team wants it to be perfectly playable and enjoyable for both hardcore Tarkov veterans and total newcomers alike.

    Key Takeaway

    – Xbox Series X25 transparent “OG Green” model announced, hardware identical to standard Series X.
    – Reddit render shows nine transparent colors; community strongly supports wider release.
    – Skeptics doubt Microsoft will invest late in console’s life cycle, but N64’s late “Funtastic” variants are now collector’s items.
    – No concrete plans for more colors, but Xbox Next not expected until 2027, leaving time for fan-driven expansion.

A look at the leaked concept

Microsoft recenty unveiled the Xbox Series X25. The anniversary model uses the same hardware as the regular Xbox Series X (currently available on Amazon for $598), but comes in a transparent “OG Green” chassis, complete with an illuminated green Xbox logo and a matching controller with transparent elements.

    Community renders spark interest

On Reddit, u/Eastern-Mobile5351 has now shared a render showing the Xbox Series X25 in nine different transparent color variants. The user believes Microsoft could significantly boost console sales with such models. The idea has received plenty of support from the community.

The top comment doubts that Microsoft would invest so much effort in a console nearing the end of its life cycle. However, one reply also attracted a lot of attention: “Happened with the Nintendo 64 at the end of its life and it was glorious.”

    Historic precedent for transparent consoles

At the time, Nintendo released several transparent “Funtastic” variants of the N64, including blue, green, orange, purple, black and red models. Today, these transparent designs are especially sought after by collectors. That could give Microsoft a reason to at least consider expanding the color palette.

    Future prospects remain unconfirmed

There are currently no concrete indications that Microsoft is actually planning additional color variants. However, with the Xbox Next currently expected in 2027 at the earliest, there is still plenty of time. It is therefore not entirely out of the question that Microsoft could still respond to fans’ wishes.
