    Tesla Model Y Owners: Free FSD Offer Extension for Subscribers

    After previously providing free trials of its Full Self-Driving (Supervised) service exclusively for inventory vehicles, and later extending the promotion to include free Supercharging for new purchases across its fleet, Tesla is now offering FSD trials at no cost.

    Free FSD Subscriptions for Model Y Owners

    Some owners of the Model Y are now receiving a complimentary month of the FSD subscription to experience the autonomous driving feature, which has recently been updated to its 13th version, introducing numerous enhancements in parking and traffic awareness.

    “You have been granted a complimentary trial of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) for your Model Y,” Tesla’s holiday message states, explaining the functionalities of FSD and how to navigate the additional trial period.

    Limited Offer for Newer Models

    Interestingly, this offer also applies to current FSD subscription users, who can enjoy the service without the usual $99 monthly charge during the trial. However, the invitations are primarily sent to owners of newer Model Y batches equipped with Tesla’s latest AI4 hardware, leaving many Model Y owners in the US, who still have the HW3 kit, unable to access FSD 13 at this time.

    Tesla has assured that free HW4 upgrade retrofits will be available if it cannot get the latest FSD versions to operate on the older Hardware 3.0 platform. Until then, most owners of Model Y or Model 3 will miss out on the newest advancements that the self-driving software can provide.

    A Strategic Move Towards Approval

    This initiative clearly aims to enhance the popularity of the latest FSD 13 version, as Tesla requires intervention data to present to regulators in its effort to eliminate the “supervised” aspect of its paid Full Self-Driving service.

    Elon Musk has stated that unsupervised FSD is expected to launch in 2025, starting in Texas and California for existing models, before Tesla rolls out its driverless Robotaxi on public streets.

    Future of Tesla’s Ride-Share Service

    Reports indicate that Tesla’s Cybercab ride-share service will initially utilize company-owned vehicles, including Robotaxis, while current Tesla owners will have the opportunity to rent their cars to the service for extra income in the future.

    Musk has also suggested that he might use his position as the head of the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the upcoming Trump administration to lead the way in federal regulations for autonomous vehicles.

    This would streamline the approval process for self-driving cars on public roads, according to Musk. Additionally, Tesla is collaborating at both state and city levels, including training first responders to handle situations that could arise from its driverless vehicles, such as the Robotaxi when they become more prevalent on the streets.

    An earlier leak hinted at a new HP Omen laptop featuring cutting-edge hardware from Nvidia and Intel. Many other manufacturers are likely to follow suit, and we have now come across one of Razer’s highest-spec models. Yet, the Razer Blade 18 we’re looking at raises more questions than it clears up.

    Performance Specs

    On Geekbench, we can observe this new 18-inch model equipped with a Core Ultra 9 275HX, which is Intel’s top-of-the-line Arrow Lake-HX processor. It boasts 8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores, with a maximum clock speed of 5.2 GHz for the performance cores. This particular laptop comes with a whopping 64 GB of RAM. So far, everything seems fine, but the graphics card tells a different story.

    GPU Confusion

    The Razer Blade 18 appears to be fitted with a full GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card. That’s right, the desktop variant, which features 128 Streaming Multiprocessors and a boost clock of 2.5 GHz. It doesn’t seem like Geekbench is mistakenly identifying the SKU, as it clearly states 24 GB VRAM underneath. Moreover, the upcoming mobile GeForce RTX 5090 is rumored to have only 16 GB of video memory, not 24 GB.

    Possible Future Developments

    Although there is a 24 GB variant of the GeForce RTX 5090 planned for laptops in the future, it won’t be available until 3 GB GDDR7 modules are widely used. It looks like someone has plugged an RTX 4090 into a Razer Blade 18 and took it for a test run.

    Could this indicate the launch of a new eGPU dock from Razer? Most likely. This theory is supported by the actual OpenCL score, which is 241,793—significantly lower than the usual score of 345,652, suggesting that some throttling is happening.

    Meanwhile, while presenting the Cybercab at the Petersen Automotive Museum, the Tesla team also employed a controller to navigate the Robotaxi, which Tesla promotes as the future of driverless transport. The Cybercab, designed for two passengers, is unique as it lacks both a steering wheel and pedals. However, its FSD 13 autonomous driving software struggles with small maneuvers, such as driving up a ramp or weaving around Christmas trees in the museum’s Vault exhibit to reach its intended location.

    The Manual Driving Capability

    This is why the individual operating the Robotaxi during its transport, maneuvering it off its trailer, up the ramp, and around the venue, seemed to be using what onlookers described as an Xbox controller linked to the vehicle’s computer. Although the connection was wired, sources indicated that the Cybercab’s controller can also connect wirelessly, allowing someone to operate it from a distance.

    This opens up a variety of options, especially for the Cybercab’s ride-share service and support teams, or for first responders Tesla is currently training to handle scenarios involving the Robotaxi on public streets. Overall, the idea that the first Tesla vehicle without a steering wheel or pedals is fully autonomous might be a bit of an overstatement, as there is a means to manually drive it in case it gets stuck for any reason.

This picture showcases the GB202, a graphics processor based on the Blackwell architecture, which is set to be the heart of the RTX 5090. The official reveal is anticipated to take place in early January at CES 2025.

    Specifications of the RTX 5090

    At the core of the RTX 5090 is the GB202-300 silicon, marking it as the largest gaming GPU in NVIDIA’s Blackwell series with a remarkable 21,760 CUDA cores. The physical size of the GB202 is considerable, measuring around 63 × 56 mm. The die itself occupies a substantial area of 24 × 21 mm, leading to an overall die size of 744 mm².

    Memory and Performance

    Surrounding the GPU are 16 Samsung GDDR7 memory chips, contributing to a total memory capacity of 32 GB. The combination of numerous chips, the large GPU package, and a high pin count strongly suggests a 512-bit wide memory bus. If the memory speed reaches 28 Gbps, this setup could achieve an astonishing memory bandwidth of 1,792 GB/s, representing a major advancement compared to earlier models.

    Power and Launch Details

    To power this powerful GPU, a sturdy 24-phase VRM solution is implemented. It is anticipated that the card will utilize a single 12+4-pin 12V-2×6 power connector. Given that this connector can handle 600W of continuous power, experts in the industry predict that the Total Graphics Power (TGP) for the RTX 5090 could be between 500 and 550W, or maybe even more.

    Both the GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 are set to debut in January at CES 2025, with the RTX 5080 possibly arriving on the market ahead of its more advanced counterpart. The existence of samples with board partners, along with the matching NVIDIA branding on the GPU label, further confirms the credibility of these leaks. The only detail still unknown is when production of the GPU will actually begin.

    CES 2025 is just around the corner, and even though there’s going to be plenty of unexpected reveals, several details have already surfaced to spark interest. One of the latest leaks features a range of Lenovo products, including a self-charging Bluetooth keyboard and a unique collection known as the AI Travel Set.

    Self-Charging Keyboard

    Shared by Evan Blass (@evleaks) on X, the first item is a Bluetooth keyboard that charges itself. According to the post, this innovative keyboard will harness energy from sunlight and surrounding light sources for its power needs. The images hint at a long black strip on the top, which likely contains the solar panel that facilitates the charging process.

    This Lenovo Bluetooth keyboard can connect with up to three devices, as indicated by the three Bluetooth buttons positioned above the number pad. The images also reveal that the keyboard will come in two colors: a black version featuring some green keys (ESC, Space, and Enter) and a white one. Furthermore, it seems that the casing is made from recycled plastic, based on the design seen in the black version.

    Competition in the Market

    When Lenovo presents the keyboard at CES 2025, it won’t be the first of its kind. The Logitech K750 Wireless Solar Keyboard has been on the market for over ten years, although Logitech has stopped making it. Currently, one can find the Arteck Wireless Solar Keyboard on Amazon for $40.99.

    Another intriguing product in the leaks is called the AI Travel Set. This set includes a smartwatch, a pair of wireless earbuds, and a larger pendant-like device that’s worn around the neck, similar to the Plaud NotePin but bigger and features a camera. Additionally, there’s a fourth device that is significantly larger, equipped with what seems to be an ethernet port, a USB port, and a two-prong power port.

    Mysterious Connectivity

    The images suggest that the earbuds and the pendant-like device can be stored together in a single charging case, and both will be available in black and white. There’s no information yet on how these four devices will interact, but it’s possible that the AI Travel Set might be just another concept device, akin to the Lenovo AR headset coupled with the Motorola Neckband that was showcased at CES 2022.
