BYD’s Haibao 06 DM-i Hybrid Sedan: 2300 Km Range, Ocean Ambience

BYD introduced the Haibao 06 DM-i on May 28th, a mid-size sedan positioned as a “sister model” to the Qin L DM-i. This sleek automobile features BYD’s cutting-edge fifth-generation DM hybrid technology, offering remarkable efficiency and extended range.

Design and Aesthetics

The Haibao 06 DM-i adopts the Ocean Net family design, showcasing sharp headlights, a sleek fastback profile, and stylish taillights. It is available in four colors: Qinhai Green, Warm Smoky Tea, Snow White, and Atlantis Gray. While slightly narrower than the Qin L DM-i, it provides comfortable seating for five passengers and generous luggage space.

Interior and Features

The driver-focused cockpit includes a floating central control screen (available in either 12.8 or 15.6 inches) equipped with the DiLink intelligent network system. The interior features unique wavy seat textures and a combination of curves and color-blocking, creating an ocean-inspired atmosphere. Standard features include an 8.8-inch instrument cluster, an NFC digital key, and original ETC (electronic toll collection).

Configurations and Specifications

The Haibao 06 DM-i is offered in five configurations, starting at 99,800 yuan. It comes with two battery options (10.08kWh or 15.874kWh) providing either an 80km or 120km pure electric range (CLTC). Both variants utilize BYD’s dependable lithium iron phosphate blade battery technology. The vehicle is powered by a 1.5L engine paired with either a 120kW or 160kW electric motor, achieving a top speed of 180km/h.

Efficiency and Performance

The fifth-generation DM technology ensures outstanding fuel efficiency. Official tests revealed impressive results, with average fuel consumption as low as 1.79 liters per 100km and a potential combined driving range exceeding 2,300km. This technology leverages AI for optimized energy management, further boosting efficiency.
