At Eurobike 2025, Bafang took the chance to showcase two new electric motors for bicycles: the M430 Cargo and M510RS. Both motors are mid-drive types, which help to lower and centralize the bike’s center of gravity. This is generally a good feature, but it can also increase stress on the bike’s drivetrain, including the chain and gears.

M510RS Specifications

The M510RS is intended for e-mountain bikes. It has a continuous output of 250 watts, while Bafang states that the peak output can reach 790 watts. In many countries, only the continuous output is important, often capped at 250 watts by law. Cleanrider mentions that the maximum torque for this motor is 110 Nm. Weighing in at 2,900 grams, it combines a cadence sensor with a torque sensor, allowing for very accurate assistance based on how hard the rider is pedaling. The maximum assistance levels can reach 340% of the rider’s own effort.

M430 Cargo Features

On the other hand, the M430 Cargo is designed to provide much higher support, which makes sense since cargo bikes need to move heavy extra loads like passengers or bags. It offers up to 800% assistance, with a torque of up to 150 Nm, at least for the North American version. However, it does come with a drawback: the motor weighs 4 kilograms, making it quite heavy. Additionally, Bafang has introduced a new app called Bafang Go, which enables riders to customize their mid-drive motor according to their preferences.

Pricing and Availability

Details about the price and availability of these motors are still to be announced.
