AYANEO Pocket DMG: Handheld with OLED & Snapdragon G3x Gen 2

The much-anticipated AYANEO Pocket DMG, a retro gaming handheld styled after the classic Gameboy, has been elaborated upon in a recent press release by AYANEO. This new device positions itself as a premium Android gaming handheld, on par with the best models available today. It features the Qualcomm Snapdragon G3X Gen chip and includes an OLED display. The AYANEO Pocket DMG is distinguished by its unique controller layout, setting it apart from its competitors.

Design and Display

First teased in November 2023, the AYANEO Pocket DMG has now been fully revealed, including its key specifications. This vertical retro gaming handheld is reminiscent of other models like the Analogue Pocket and Anbernic RG405V. It boasts a 3.92-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1,240 x 1,080 pixels and a pixel density of 419 PPI. Among current retro gaming handhelds, its display is seemingly the most vibrant.

Powerful Chipset

A standout feature of the AYANEO Pocket DMG is its use of the Snapdragon G3X Gen 2 chipset. This is the same processor found in the AYANEO Pocket S, which means the Pocket DMG can emulate most games efficiently. Unlike other models, the new AYANEO Pocket DMG includes only a single joystick. To make up for this, the device features a touchpad area surrounding the joystick as an alternative control method.

Release Date and Pricing

AYANEO has yet to announce a specific launch date for the Pocket DMG, and the press release did not include pricing details. However, it is anticipated that this latest flagship retro gaming handheld from AYANEO will be available on the market soon.
