Avatr 07 SUV: New BEV and EREV Variants Announced

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Avatr has introduced a new model, the Avatr 07 SUV. This vehicle will be offered in two versions: an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and a battery electric vehicle (BEV). The Avatr 07 follows the Avatr 11 SUV and the Avatr 12 sedan as the third model in the company's lineup.

Features

Avatr Technology, supported by Changan Automobile, CATL, and Huawei, showcases its ambition to compete in the EREV market with this new model. The Avatr 07 is notable for being the first from the brand to offer both EREV and BEV options. The inclusion of EREV addresses the limitations of BEVs by adding a fuel tank, thus extending the vehicle's range and making it more practical for a broader market. In China, the BEV market has been the primary focus for many EV startups. The EREV variant combines the extended range of a fuel-efficient vehicle with the driving experience of a BEV.

Avatr entered the EV market in 2022 with the launch of the Avatr 11 in August, with deliveries starting in December 2022. The Avatr 12 followed in November 2023, with deliveries beginning in December 2023. In April 2024, Avatr produced over 5,200 vehicles, more than doubling the production from February 2024, although the numbers for March 2024 were not disclosed.

Specifications

The Avatr 07 will be available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. It measures 4,825 x 1,980 x 1,620 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,940 mm. This new SUV will utilize Huawei’s next-generation LiDAR technology and CATL’s latest supercharging batteries. Initially rumored for a Q3 2024 release, Avatr has yet to announce the official pricing but it's expected to range between 250,000 yuan ($34,605) and 350,000 yuan ($48,446).
