Key Takeaways
1. New Model Introduction: Asus has launched the ROG Azoth 96 HE, a new 96% mechanical keyboard model featuring Hall Effect magnetic switches.
2. Improved Polling Rate: The keyboard supports an 8,000 Hz polling rate in both wired and wireless modes, enhancing responsiveness.
3. Hall Effect Switches: It features customizable ROG HFX V2 switches, allowing users to adjust actuation points from 0.1 to 3.5mm in 0.01mm increments.
4. Premium Build Quality: The keyboard includes a silicone gasket mount, pre-lubed stabilizers, and multiple dampening materials for improved sound and comfort.
5. No Release Date Yet: Asus has not announced the release date or pricing for the ROG Azoth 96 HE, but it is expected to be at the higher end of the price range.
Asus has added a new 96% model to its Azoth mechanical keyboard series. After introducing the first Azoth in 2023 (current price: $154.99 at Amazon), the brand has launched two more versions, both featuring standard mechanical switches in the same 75% size. The latest ROG Azoth 96 HE enhances this design by incorporating Hall Effect magnetic switches for better accuracy while also including a numpad and additional system keys.
Enhanced Features
In addition to the new layout, Asus has also improved the polling rate for this keyboard. The ROG Azoth 96 HE supports an impressive 8,000 Hz polling rate in both wired and wireless modes, thanks to the 2.4 GHz ROG SpeedNova 8K adapter. Bluetooth and USB connections are also available, allowing users to link up to five devices at once. The keyboard keeps the 1.47-inch OLED touchscreen and multifunction knob that were featured in earlier Azoth versions.
Hall Effect Switches
The standout feature of this model is the upgrade to Hall effect switches. Unlike previous models that utilized ROG NX switches, the new ROG Azoth 96 HE is equipped with ROG HFX V2 switches, similar to those found on the ROG Falcata split mechanical keyboard. These magnetic switches with ROG Hall sensors allow users to customize the actuation point and benefit from advanced functionalities like Rapid Trigger and Speed Tap, which is Asus’s version of Razer’s Snap Tap.
Customization options for the actuation point range from 0.1 to 3.5mm, with precise tuning available in 0.01mm steps for better keystrokes.
Premium Build Quality
Internally, the ROG Azoth 96 HE features high-quality aspects such as a silicone gasket mount with pre-lubed stabilizers for the space bar and other longer keys. It also employs six layers of dampening materials, including Poron and IXPE, aimed at enhancing sound quality and providing a more comfortable typing experience. Additionally, the keyboard is constructed with a metal top frame, giving it a sophisticated appearance.
Asus has yet to announce a release date or pricing for this model. However, since the original came out at $250 with a 75% layout and lacked Hall effect switches, it’s likely that the ROG Azoth 96 HE will be positioned at the upper end of the pricing scale.
