Xiaomi has introduced an ambitious new ceiling-mounted bathroom fixture that integrates heating, ventilation, and lighting into a single smart appliance. The Mijia Smart Bathroom Heater P1 Human Sensing Edition distinguishes itself through the use of 24GHz radar presence detection, moving beyond conventional infrared motion sensors to continuously confirm actual human occupancy.
Radar-based presence intelligence
At the heart of the unit’s operation is a millimeter-wave radar sensor that governs all three core functions. When a person enters the room, the light and fan activate automatically; the system remains on even if the occupant is perfectly still, and it powers everything down once the space is vacated. Recognizing that nearby hallway traffic could easily trigger false activations, Xiaomi has made both the detection range and sensitivity user-adjustable, allowing the response zone to be tuned to the bathroom’s layout.
Heating and ventilation performance
The heater relies on a 3,000 W graphene element paired with variable frequency control, modulating output to hold a consistent target temperature rather than running continuously at full power. An oscillating louver sweeps across a 60- to 90-degree arc to direct warm air downward, counteracting heat’s natural tendency to collect near the ceiling. Dual DC motors enable the heater and exhaust fan to operate simultaneously, and the exhaust is rated at approximately 259 cubic meters of air per hour—a solid extraction figure for a single ceiling device.
Adjustable lighting and integration
Illumination comes from a retractable panel that sits flush with the ceiling when not in use. It delivers up to 1,500 lumens across a color temperature range of 3,000 K to 6,200 K, while a dedicated night light mode spares users the full brightness during late hours. The heater integrates with the Mi Home app and Xiaomi’s HyperOS ecosystem for scheduling and voice control. An IPX4 water-resistant wireless wall switch ships with the unit and fits a standard 86 mm electrical box, eliminating the need for additional wiring during installation.
Pricing and availability
The Mijia Smart Bathroom Heater P1 Human Sensing Edition launches through crowdfunding in China next week at 999 yuan, roughly $148. Xiaomi has not yet signaled whether the product will be released in markets outside China.
