Thunderobot has begun promoting its upcoming Zero Air 16 gaming laptop on Weibo, building anticipation for a public debut at the Bilibili World 2026 event in Shanghai, scheduled for July 10–12. The new model scales up from the previous 15-inch Zero Air to a 16-inch form factor while making an aggressive push for portability in a category often dominated by heavier machines.

A lightweight benchmark in the 16-inch class

According to the teaser, the Zero Air 16 tips the scales at just 1.64 kg. That figure is only about 60 g heavier than the 15-inch Zero Air launched in January, a modest gain considering the larger chassis required for the bigger display. The result places it noticeably below the recently introduced Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 (2026), which weighs roughly 1.96 kg. Thunderobot credits a carbon fiber chassis as a key factor in keeping the weight down, though other critical design details remain under wraps.

Internal hardware and a tier shift

The image shared by Thunderobot confirms the Zero Air 16 will ship with an Intel Core Ultra 7 356H, a 16-core Panther Lake processor, paired with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 carrying 8 GB of GDDR7 memory. This represents a deliberate step down in CPU tier from the 15-inch Zero Air’s Core Ultra 9 386H, which itself already featured a cut-down integrated GPU with four Xe3 cores. Memory and storage are set at 32 GB of LPDDR5 and a 1 TB SSD. While the Zephyrus G16 can be configured up to an RTX 5080, the Zero Air 16 stops one tier below, a difference that may shape the competitive landscape for thin gaming notebooks at the upper mid-range.

Remaining questions before launch

Thunderobot has not yet confirmed the RTX 5070’s power limit, the cooling architecture, or the panel specifications—all pivotal details that will determine whether the Zero Air 16 delivers full-fledged gaming performance or leans more toward an ultraportable design with gaming branding. The company expects to showcase the device publicly at Bilibili World 2026, with a full launch targeted for August. Pricing has not been disclosed, and there is currently no indication of availability beyond the Chinese market.
