Suunto appears to be preparing the next generation of its Race series sports watches, with early details of the Suunto Race 3 and Suunto Race 3 S surfacing through a briefly visible Google search result and supporting clues on the company’s own website. The two models follow the Suunto Race 2, which launched in August 2025 at $499, and are currently indicated for a 2026 release.
Display and build differences
According to the prematurely published information, the lineup will once again offer two size options with distinct material choices. The smaller Suunto Race 3 S is expected to feature a round 1.32-inch AMOLED display protected by scratch-resistant sapphire glass. The larger Suunto Race 3 moves to a 1.5-inch AMOLED screen but will reportedly use mineral glass instead, a decision aligned with positioning the bigger watch primarily around extended battery performance rather than premium casing durability.
Navigation and AI coaching features
Both upcoming watches will include dual-band GPS for improved positioning accuracy in challenging environments. More notably, the leak points to the introduction of an interactive Suunto AI Coach. The new tool is described as capable of answering contextual questions about training timing, workout effectiveness, and how shifts in sleep or recovery metrics might influence progress toward fitness goals. While a three-month trial will be included, continued access to the AI Coach is expected to require a paid subscription. This marks a departure from the current Suunto Coach, which remains free but offers less advanced conversational guidance.
