Samsung has officially taken the wraps off the Galaxy Z Flip8 at its Unpacked event in London, delivering the slimmest and lightest design in the Flip series to date. The device weighs 180 grams and measures just 6.1 mm when open, with a folded thickness of 13.1 mm.
Refined Hardware and Display
The handset is built around an “Armor aluminum” frame and is powered by the Exynos 2600, a 2 nm deca-core processor clocked at up to 3.8 GHz. Both storage configurations—256 GB and 512 GB—are paired with 12 GB of RAM. The main display is a 6.9-inch Super AMOLED 2X panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate, a resolution of 2520x1080, and a peak brightness of 2600 nits. On the outside, the 4.1-inch FlexWindow cover screen also operates at 120 Hz with a 1048x948 resolution. This generation expands what the cover display can handle, granting direct access to a “My Day” summary, app shortcuts, and Gemini-based automation without opening the phone. Users can also trigger automated routines via the side button or voice commands.
Camera Capabilities and Imaging
The rear camera system consists of a 50 MP main sensor with optical image stabilization and autofocus, joined by a 12 MP ultrawide lens. A 10 MP front-facing camera handles selfies and video calls, and there is no telephoto module on this model. The 50 MP shooter benefits from Samsung’s ProVisual processing engine, which the company says enhances portrait rendering and produces more natural skin tones. Video recording reaches UHD at 60 fps; 8K capture is reserved for the Fold8 Ultra and is not available on the Flip8. Stabilization features include Super Steady with a horizontal lock function, and users can record handheld video using the cover screen. Flex mode returns, while a new manual camcorder mode introduces a physical zoom slider tailored for one-handed operation.
Battery, Software, and Connectivity
A 4300 mAh battery keeps the device running, with wired charging capped at 25 W—a more conservative pace than the 45 W dual-channel system found on the Fold8 Ultra. Both wireless and reverse wireless charging are supported. The Galaxy Z Flip8 ships with Android 17 and One UI 9.0, and it covers 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC. Durability is addressed with an IP48 rating.
Color choices include Graphite, Cream, and Pink, with a Mint option offered exclusively through Samsung’s online store. US pricing details are expected to follow shortly.
