Xiaomi has formally introduced the Redmi Note 17 series in China, opening with two distinct models. While the Pro variant stakes out a position as a well-equipped mid-range device powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, the standard Redmi Note 17 prioritizes affordability without abandoning several eye-catching hardware choices.

A Large Display and Capable Entry-Level Platform

The standard Redmi Note 17 enters the market below the $200 threshold and is built around a generous 7-inch OLED display. The panel carries a resolution of 2396x1080 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a rated peak brightness of 1,800 nits. Xiaomi has also specified a touch sampling rate of 2,160Hz, which the company says helps the screen register touches accurately even in demanding conditions. Driving the phone is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, an entry-tier chipset, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

Battery Capacity and Charging Stand Out

Perhaps the most striking specification for a phone in this price segment is the 8,000mAh battery, a substantial leap over the 5,800mAh cell found in the previous generation. Wired charging is supported at 45W, and the device also offers 22.5W reverse wired charging, enabling it to top up other gadgets. The camera system, by contrast, is modest: a single 50MP sensor sits on the rear, complemented by an 8MP front-facing camera.

Practical Features and Pricing Tiers

Additional features include support for microSD cards of up to 2TB capacity, NFC connectivity, and an IP65-rated build for dust and water resistance. Pricing for the standard Redmi Note 17 starts at CNY 1,299 (approximately $191) for the configuration with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The highest-tier variant, with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, is listed at CNY 1,699, or roughly $250. These prices position the device as a value-focused contender in a segment where large batteries and expansive displays remain rare.
