OnePlus is continuing to bolster its software experience for existing devices, even as the company has confirmed a strategic retreat from the North American and European markets. Focusing exclusively on India and China going forward, the brand reassured users that all current hardware will continue to receive the software support originally outlined at launch. This commitment is now evident in a fresh update for the OnePlus Pad 3, which brings a popular audio-sharing capability previously seen on recent OnePlus phones.
Dual Bluetooth audio arrives on the OnePlus Pad 3
The latest system upgrade, OxygenOS 16.0.9.400, introduces a dual Bluetooth audio streaming feature to the tablet. This functionality allows the OnePlus Pad 3 to connect to two pairs of wireless earbuds simultaneously. Once paired, audio can be streamed to both sets at once, eliminating the need to share a single pair of earbuds when watching movies, listening to music, or viewing videos together. Each connected headset also receives independent volume controls, giving users precise adjustment over their personal listening levels. The feature is designed to work with virtually any Bluetooth earbuds or headphones, without restricting compatibility to OnePlus or Nord-branded accessories.
Refined apps and tighter device control
Beyond audio sharing, the update delivers several other quality-of-life enhancements. Within the Weather application, users will now find moonrise, moonset, and lunar phase information displayed directly on the home screen. The app drawer’s Categories view has been improved with a new "App suggestions" section, intelligently surfacing the most frequently used applications for quicker access.
Device Connect also gains a notable security and convenience upgrade. The feature now enables users to remotely lock a connected PC with a single tap from the tablet. It also supports unlocking that same PC directly from the OnePlus Pad 3, bypassing the need to manually enter the computer’s password.
Security enhancements and facial recognition options
On the security front, OxygenOS 16.0.9.400 broadens the Face Unlock system by allowing users to register a backup facial profile. This makes it more convenient to unlock the tablet when wearing glasses or varying makeup looks. The update additionally introduces one-tap controls for revoking Accessibility permissions from applications deemed potentially risky, strengthening user privacy. The firmware package also integrates the July 2026 Android security patch, keeping the device’s core protections up to date.
