Jsaux has formally announced three front panel variants for the Steam Machine, moving forward with plans initially teased last year. The product reveal follows the official launch of Valve’s SteamOS gaming PC by only a few weeks.
A Trio of Smart Display Panels
The Steam Machine’s chassis is built to accommodate interchangeable front panels, a feature Valve highlighted alongside e-ink display prototypes during its hardware unveiling. Although Valve has opted not to commercialize the e-ink faceplate itself—releasing only 3D-print files for DIY users—Jsaux has stepped in to fill the gap with its own third-party offerings. The company has launched a pre-launch page detailing three distinct models: Color E-Ink, Mono E-Ink, and Color Dot Matrix.
Real-Time System Monitoring and Customization
Pricing and regional availability have not yet been disclosed, but prospective customers can register for email updates through Jsaux’s website. Each front panel is designed to surface live system telemetry, including CPU and GPU temperatures, while also supporting custom animations and visual effects. Preview imagery shows the Color Dot Matrix edition displaying the current refresh rate alongside CPU, GPU, and RAM utilization. The e-ink variants, by contrast, are pictured presenting a calendar widget, weather forecast, and date, suggesting a focus on at-a-glance daily information outside of active gaming sessions.
