Hyperkin has expanded the color range of The Competitor, its wired gaming controller for Xbox and PC. The gamepad, originally launched in August 2025 in Black and White, is distinguished by a symmetrical thumbstick layout reminiscent of the PlayStation 5’s DualSense design.

Three new two-tone finishes arrive

The three additional color options were initially previewed at the controller’s launch last year, though availability was expected to be limited by region. Each of the new variants features a dual-color scheme with black as the secondary tone. The new finishes include Midas Touch, a gold shell paired with black buttons; Murasaki, a purple design with matching purple buttons; and Widow, a red version that also includes red buttons.

Pricing and availability

All new colors are priced at $49.99, matching the original Black and White models, and can be purchased directly through Hyperkin’s online store. For a limited time, the White edition is available at a reduced price of $44.99.

Hardware features and wired connectivity

Built for Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, and Windows PCs, The Competitor connects exclusively via a detachable USB cable. Internally, it relies on Hall Effect thumbsticks with metal glide rings designed to resist drift, alongside impulse Hall Effect triggers for consistent responsiveness. Additional controls include a segmented D-pad, two remappable back buttons that can be physically locked, a 3.5 mm audio jack, and a dedicated microphone mute button.
