Blizzard Entertainment has deployed a new Overwatch 2 update that introduces an experimental "Community Crafted" mode, applying balance profiles designed directly by community creators. The patch adjusts hero behavior across the tank, damage, and support categories. As the underlying engine version has changed, all existing competitive match replay codes have been automatically invalidated—a routine consequence of gameplay adjustments at this scale.

Revised Tank Mechanics

Several front-line heroes receive targeted mechanical changes. D.Va’s Defense Matrix now fuels her Self Destruct ultimate: for every 100 damage absorbed, the explosion gains 10 points of additional damage. Doomfist’s utility shifts so that Power Block empowers the next ability activation generally, rather than confining the combat bonus exclusively to Rocket Punch.

Winston gains a double jump capability. Players can trigger a second Jump Pack leap within one second of the first, though the secondary jump operates at 50 percent physical effectiveness. Sigma’s Gravitic Flux discards the vertical lift mechanic entirely—the ultimate now slams enemy units directly into the ground, pinning them in place for three seconds and inflicting 25 damage per second.

Damage Role Adjustments

Aggressive projectile velocity changes reshape the damage roster’s tracking dynamics. Junkrat’s Frag Launcher projectile speed climbs from 30 meters per second to 112.5 meters per second. To compensate, his impact damage falls from 45 to 30, explosion damage drops from 80 to 50, and grenades now explode instantly upon hitting any surface or player model.

Junker Queen’s Carnage becomes a ranged option, letting players throw the axe to land critical hits and apply a bleed effect. Mei loses the standard frost slow on her primary fire, replaced by a chargeable secondary fire icicle; holding the input scales both base damage and a movement reduction effect that lasts up to 1.5 seconds. Tracer’s Pulse Bomb mechanics also change: opponents can now detach a stuck explosive by shooting it, with the bomb separating after taking 150 damage.

Live Deployment

The update is live on all retail networks. These community-crafted balance profiles represent a notable experiment in player-driven hero design, echoing a broader industry trend toward limited-time modes that test unconventional mechanics outside the core competitive environment.
