Xiaomi has recently expanded its End-of-Life (EOL) list, ending software support for over a dozen smartphones across its Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco brands. This includes popular models like the Xiaomi Mi 10 series and the Redmi Note 10 lineup.
Specifically, the unsupported Xiaomi devices now include the Xiaomi Mi 10S, Mi 10 Pro, Mi 10, Mi 10 Ultra, and Mi 11 Lite 5G models:
– Xiaomi Mi 10S (CN)
– Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro (EEA, Global, CN)
– Xiaomi Mi 10 (TR, ID, EEA, IN, EN, Global, CN)
– Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra (CN)
– Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G (JP)
Mi 10 Pro
For Redmi users, the EOL list also affects the popular mid-range Redmi Note 10 series, launched in 2021. Here are all the affected Redmi smartphones:
– Redmi Note 10 Pro (ID, EEA, Global)
– Redmi Note 10 (TR)
– Redmi Note 10 5G (TW, TR)
– Redmi Note 10T (EN)
– Redmi Note 8 (2021) (EEA, EN)
Poco M3 Pro 5G
Moving on, a Poco phone is also included in the EoL list:
– Poco M3 Pro 5G (EN, TR)
This decision means these devices will no longer receive regular software updates, including new features, bug fixes, or crucial security patches that protect against vulnerabilities and malware.
It’s not a completely unexpected move from Xiaomi. Smartphone manufacturers typically offer software support for a limited number of years, be it budget or flagship handset.
Users with the devices on the EoL list now have a few choices. They can either continue using their current devices with the understanding that they might encounter security vulnerabilities or compatibility issues with newer apps. Alternatively, they can consider upgrading to a newer model for continued software support and security.
Custom ROM Options
For tech-savvy users, custom ROM communities might offer alternative firmware options, but it has its own risks and requires a certain level of technical skill.
