Xiaomi has introduced a new addition to its product range with the release of the 67W Desktop Fast Charging socket. This device is priced at 149 yuan (~ $20), but there's an introductory offer of 129 yuan (~ $18). It is now available for purchase on major e-commerce platforms in China, such as JD.com. Let’s delve into the features of this new adapter.
Xiaomi 67W Desktop Fast Charging Socket Overview
The socket is designed with a minimalist aesthetic, available in classic black-and-white color options. It measures 46.5×105.0×42.0mm and comes with a 1.5-meter-long cable. The device also features a flame-retardant polycarbonate shell for enhanced safety.
It includes two standard two-prong outlets and two five-prong grounded outlets, capable of handling a maximum power output of 2500W. These can be used for devices like monitors, desktops, laptops, or any other high-power-consuming equipment.
Versatile Charging Options
For charging needs, such as smartphones, tablets, or wearables, the socket is equipped with four USB ports. There are two USB-C ports, each offering 67W fast charging, and two USB-A ports, each with a maximum output of 22.5W.
However, the power distribution among these ports can be somewhat complex. Each USB-C port can deliver the full 67W individually, but when both are used simultaneously, their output decreases to a maximum of 45W for one port and 20W for the other.
Similarly, using a USB-C port along with a USB-A port results in a 45W maximum for the USB-C and an 18W maximum for the USB-A. If all four ports are used together, they are capped at a combined output of 15W.
Important Considerations
There are some caveats to keep in mind. For instance, when charging a watch via the USB-A ports, users might notice a repetitive charging notification even after the watch is fully charged. According to Xiaomi, this is a normal detection process and should cease after approximately half an hour. Nonetheless, it is recommended to disconnect the device once charging is complete.
