The Redmi K80 Pro was launched today alongside several other Xiaomi devices in China. This lineup includes the more affordable Redmi K80, as well as the Redmi Watch 5 and Redmi Buds 6 Pro. As anticipated, Xiaomi highlights the Redmi K80 Pro for its premium hardware, which is impressive for a mid-range priced smartphone.
Powerful Specifications
To start, the Redmi K80 Pro comes with a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, paired with LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, and a robust 6,000 mAh battery. Notably, this large battery can be charged wirelessly at 50 W and via a wired connection at 120 W. Xiaomi also states that this device is certified IP69 and features a heat sink, allowing it to stay cooler under heavy use compared to previous models.
Impressive Camera Features
Additionally, the Redmi K80 Pro boasts a Light Hunter 800 main camera that captures images at 50 MP with a 1/1.55-inch optical size. It also includes a 20 MP front camera, along with 32 MP ultra-wide and 50 MP telephoto (1/2.76-inch) cameras. However, the telephoto lens only offers 2.5x optical zoom. Interestingly, the main camera appears to be the only one equipped with optical stabilization.
Display and Global Availability
The device features a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen that supports 1440p resolution with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. In addition, this large display is capable of reaching 1,800 nits of maximum brightness or even 3,200 nits in certain areas when HDR content is displayed.
At this moment, it is unclear how the Redmi K80 Pro will be released internationally. However, it is speculated that it could serve as a successor to the Poco F6 Pro (currently priced at $479.99 on Amazon), potentially debuting as the Poco F7 Ultra. The Redmi K80 Pro starts at CNY 3,699 (around $510) for the version with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. There are also options for up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage for CNY 4,799 (about $662), or a flashy Lamborghini Squadra Corse Special Edition priced at CNY 4,999 (approximately $690).
