    4. It includes Hall Effect joysticks, responsive bumpers and D-pad, customizable buttons, and a 6-axis gyro.
    5. The controller comes in a clear black color and includes a USB-C to USB-C charging cable in the package.

Back in April, Viture and 8BitDo revealed a unique version of the 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller designed for XR glasses. Until now, there was no word on how much it would cost or when it would be available. However, that has changed and you can now buy the controller.

    Pricing and Availability

The Viture x 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller comes in just one color, which is a clear black. You can find it on Viture’s website and on Amazon for $79. This is $30 higher than the regular 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller, which is priced at $49.99 on Amazon and comes in both black and white.

    Unique Features

This special edition of the controller has some differences from the standard model. Besides its distinct design, the Viture version connects using USB-C to your device, allowing for less latency compared to the Bluetooth connection of the original version.

Moreover, this controller features a USB-C port on the right handle where you can plug in Viture XR glasses for a more engaging gaming experience. Additionally, it has another USB-C port on the top for passthrough charging, capable of supporting up to 45W passthrough fast charging, according to the specifications.

    Compatibility and Design

The Viture x 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller is designed to work exclusively with Android smartphones (Android 13+) and can accommodate devices ranging from 100mm to 170mm in length. However, only devices that support DisplayPort Alt mode through USB-C can connect with the Viture XR glasses.

Just like the regular 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller, this model is equipped with Hall Effect joysticks, responsive bumpers and D-pad, as well as customizable buttons on the back. It also includes a 6-axis gyro. In the package, you’ll find a USB-C to USB-C charging cable included.

Viture and 8BitDo Unveil First Mobile Controller with XR Glasses Support

    Key Takeaways

    1. The Viture x 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller features a see-through black design with orange joysticks and uses a USB-C connection instead of Bluetooth.
    2. It offers customizable buttons and joysticks, as well as adjustable triggers, though rear buttons are not confirmed.
    3. This controller is the world’s first to support XR glasses, enhancing compatibility with Viture’s XR products.
    4. Users can play games from various platforms, including Google Play Store, Netflix, PlayStation Remote Play, and more, while using connected VR glasses.
    5. Pricing and release date are not yet disclosed, but there is a giveaway for a chance to win the controller and become a beta tester.

Following a hint back in January about a partnership between 8BitDo and Viture, the two companies have now unveiled the Viture x 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller. This mobile controller shares a design with the 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller that came out last year but features some significant changes.

    Design and Connection

The Viture x 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller sports a see-through black casing and orange joysticks. Unlike 8BitDo’s previous controller which connects through Bluetooth, this new one comes equipped with a USB-C port. Currently, there’s no specification sheet available, making it unclear if it will work with both Android phones and iPhones.

    Features and Compatibility

This new controller allows for button and joystick customization, along with adjustable triggers. The promotional video released does not display the backside of the controller, leaving us uncertain if it includes buttons on the rear. Given its resemblance to 8BitDo’s mobile Bluetooth variant, it is quite likely that it features rear buttons.

    Unique Selling Point

What sets this controller apart is its compatibility with XR glasses. As mentioned in the promotional video shared on X, it is touted as the world’s first controller to support XR glasses. This is fitting, considering Viture’s reputation for XR glasses like the Viture Pro, which is currently listed on Amazon for $399. The controller includes a USB-C port on the right grip for connecting VR glasses.

Viture claims that users can enjoy various games across multiple platforms, including the Google Play Store, Netflix, PlayStation Remote Play, Amazon Luna, Xbox Game Pass, and Nvidia GeForce, all while using the VR glasses connected to the controller.

    Pricing and Availability

Neither Viture nor 8BitDo has disclosed the price for the new controller or its release date. However, there is a chance to win one, along with the possibility of becoming a beta tester. The winner of the giveaway is set to be announced in two weeks, but no specific date has been provided for when the chosen beta testers will be revealed.

  • RayNeo Air 3s Launch: Affordable Upgraded XR Glasses at MWC 2025

RayNeo Air 3s Launch: Affordable Upgraded XR Glasses at MWC 2025

    Key Takeaways

    1. RayNeo Air 3s launched at a budget-friendly price of $259, down from $399 for Air 2s.
    2. Enhanced HueView screen technology offers a micro-OLED display for vibrant colors and rich blacks.
    3. Air 3s conform to IMAX Enhanced standards with impressive color accuracy and contrast ratio.
    4. Improved peak brightness of 650 nits for better viewing in bright environments.
    5. New dual-speaker setup claims a 200% increase in audio quality, with a launch planned for April 2025.

RayNeo has unveiled the Air 3s during MWC 2025, aiming to provide a budget-friendly option for XR glasses with enhanced specifications compared to the Air 2s. The pricing for these new XR glasses is set at $259 per pair, a notable reduction from the $399 launch price of their predecessors.

    Improved Features

Despite the price drop, the Air 3s seem to be a superior option compared to RayNeo’s previous model, the Air 2s. A significant enhancement is the introduction of HueView screen technology, which features a micro-OLED display with a tandem OLED structure. According to RayNeo, this advancement allows the new XR glasses to deliver exceptionally vibrant colors and rich blacks.

    Performance Metrics

RayNeo also asserts that the Air 3s conform to IMAX Enhanced standards, boasting an impressive 145% sRGB and 98% DCI-P3 accuracy, a contrast ratio of 200,000:1, and color accuracy rated at △E<2. In our hands-on review of the Air 2s, we found that while the display provided an engaging viewing experience, some users reported issues with blurry corners. Thankfully, the new model seems to have addressed this problem with a larger eye box.

    Audio and Launch Details

Another improvement in the Air 3s is the peak brightness, which has increased from 600 nits to 650 nits. This enhancement should contribute to a better viewing experience, even in bright environments. In our review of the Air 2s, we noted the audio quality from the built-in speakers was not very impressive (EarFun Air Pro 4 currently priced at $59.99 on Amazon).

It appears that the RayNeo Air 3s has also made strides in audio. The company is claiming a 200% increase in sound quality thanks to a new dual-speaker setup. As for availability, RayNeo plans to launch the new XR glasses in April 2025.
