Anker Launching Two New Shorter USB-C to USB-C Cables Soon

Anker is reportedly developing shorter versions of its recent USB-C to USB-C cables. The buzz about these upcoming products started on Reddit, where a trustworthy source, u/joshuadwx, shared some insights.

    New Cable Launches

The first cable in question is the Anker USB-C to USB-C Cable (240W, Upcycled-Braided), which debuted in June. This cable is currently sold in lengths of 3 ft (90 cm) and 6 ft (180 cm). As indicated by its title, it supports a charging capacity of 240W and allows for data transfer speeds of up to 480 Mbps. Anker claims that this cable is built to last over a decade, can handle weights of up to 100kg (~220 lbs), and endure more than 30,000 bends without issue.

    Enhanced Durability

The second option is the Anker Prime USB-C to USB-C Cable (240W, Upcycled-Braided), which was released in August. This model is also available in 3 ft (90 cm) and 6 ft (180 cm) sizes. Just like the previous one, it provides 240W charging and 480 Mbps data transfer speeds. However, this cable is touted to be even more robust, with Anker estimating it can endure over 300,000 bends. Additionally, it operates effectively in a broader temperature range, from -40°C to 80°C (-40°F to 176°F).

    Shorter Versions on the Horizon

The new shorter cables will be 1 ft (30 cm) in length. However, it remains uncertain when they will be released and in which markets. For reference, the pricing for the 3 ft (90 cm) Anker USB-C to USB-C Cable (240W, Upcycled-Braided) is $21.99, while the Anker Prime USB-C to USB-C Cable (240W, Upcycled-Braided) is priced at $29.99.

  • New Anker Braided USB-C to USB-C Cable: Stronger & Durable

New Anker Braided USB-C to USB-C Cable: Stronger & Durable

Anker seems to be on the verge of introducing a new charging cable to the market. A product labeled USB-C to USB-C Cable 544 Bio-Nylon (0.9m) in black has been spotted on Amazon Germany. Additionally, this accessory is also listed with third-party sellers like RedShell in the Netherlands.

    Durable Design with Enhanced Features

The Anker 544 USB-C to USB-C cable builds upon the previous 543 model, which also had a similar bio-nylon design. However, the new version is claimed to endure up to 30,000 bends, compared to the earlier model’s 20,000-bend capacity. According to the Amazon listing, the 544 supports 140W+ charging, allowing a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra to reach 65% battery in just 30 minutes. In contrast, the 543 is noted as a 240W cable, capable of charging a MacBook Air 15 (M2) to 50% in 34 minutes.

    Pricing and Market Speculation

The product page from a third-party seller, ZAR Systems, on Amazon Germany suggests that the Anker 544 USB-C to USB-C Cable Bio-Nylon (0.9m) will be priced at €55, with expected shipping in the upcoming weeks. However, considering that the older Anker 543 USB-C to USB-C Cable (240W, Bio) of the same length is available for €11.99, this pricing info may not be accurate. It remains uncertain if other sizes and colors of this cable will be released, and it’s also unknown whether the product will be available in other regions such as the US or UK.

Anker through Amazon and RedShell has left many questions unanswered regarding the upcoming cable’s release.
