Recently, OnePlus apologized and confirmed that the OnePlus 12R uses the UFS 3.1 storage system on all variants. In an official community forum post, Liu has revealed that those who purchased the OnePlus 12R 256GB model are eligible for a full refund if they are not satisfied. Owners need to contact the customer service teams who are said to be fully briefed on the situation. The process could be pretty straightforward. However, it’s worth noting that the refund time window is limited and valid until March 16.

OnePlus 12R Officially Confirmed to Feature UFS 3.1 Storage, Not UFS 4.0

The OnePlus 12R made its global debut last month, but it seems that there was a mistake in the initial information provided by the brand. OnePlus had initially claimed that the smartphone featured UFS 4.0 storage technology on some variants, but it has now been clarified that this is not the case. OnePlus president and COO Kinder Liu made a public announcement on the company’s official forum, acknowledging the error.

OnePlus 12R has UFS 3.1 storage

According to Liu, OnePlus made a mistake in stating that the OnePlus 12R had UFS 4.0 storage. The correct information is that the OnePlus 12R actually features UFS 3.1 storage on all variants. While UFS 4.0 is found on the flagship OnePlus 12, the OnePlus 12R has the older UFS 3.1 storage type, which has slower read and write speeds. However, UFS 3.1 is still present on older flagships like the OnePlus 11. In addition, the UFS 3.1 on the OnePlus 12R is enhanced by the new Trinity Engine, which has been fully tested on the device. This engine is claimed to launch apps faster than ever and keep applications locked open for up to 72 hours. The OnePlus 12R is available in 128GB and 256GB storage options.

OnePlus plans to address the issue for OnePlus 12R owners

For customers who have already purchased the OnePlus 12R, OnePlus has acknowledged the mistake and is working on the next steps to address the issue. More information will be revealed on February 15, and there is a possibility that OnePlus will compensate buyers for the error.
