Second Closed Beta for Monster Hunter Outlanders Begins
Capcom and TiMi Studio Group has announced the second closed beta for the much awaited mobile game Monster Hunter Outlanders. The test started on April 29 at 02:00 UTC and it’s now available in regions like North America, Japan, Europe, Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines, as well as the United Kingdom, Mexico, and Germany. Only lucky participants with emails can now download and play it, making it more exciting for those selected.
Open Community Sharing and New Features
Unlike before, this beta version do not have any NDA restrictions, so players can freely share videos, screenshots, and first impressions. Content from beta are already spreading across platforms such as X and YouTube, giving the world a sneak peek of what to expect in the full release.
New Adventure System with Class-based Play
The second beta bringin a fresh class-based Adventurer system, which makes team play more strategic without losing the core Monster Hunter weapon style. Three new Adventurers are introduced: Midori, who fights with a Long Sword hidden inside a shamisen and prefers evasive counters; Pyro, a fierce Great Sword user focusing on aggressive attack and powerful charged hits; and Pepper, a Heavy Bowgunner giving aerial mobility with her Ultimate that can slow and disturb monsters during fights.
Introduction of Lance and New Regions
A notable addition is the Lance, becoming the sixth playable weapon type alongside Sword and Shield, Great Sword, Long Sword, Bow, and Heavy Bowgun. The Lance in Outlanders keeps its classic charge mechanic with an exciting running charge that adds to its mobility, making combat faster and more dynamic compared to console versions.
Furthermore, two new environments are open for exploration: the Searing Plains and the Giantwood Locale. These maps offer not only hunting but also mini-games such as zen stone balancing, gliding challenges, and egg collecting, along with a building system where players can upgrade facilities and craft their base activities. Several new Radiant Monster variants are spotted, including Radiant Diablos, Radiant Anjanath, Radiant Barroth, Radiant Rathian, and Radiant Pukei-Pukei, with a tease of a new creature that remains a mystery for now. Returning features include BBQ cooking from the main series and cooperative multiplayer for up to four players, ensuring social gameplay.
Development and Future Plans
Monster Hunter Outlanders is being developed under the supervision of TiMi Studio Group, which is part of Tencent and has previously worked on popular titles like Call of Duty: Mobile and Honor of Kings. The game is set to launch on both iOS and Android devices, but no specific release date has been announced yet.
