Transsion Holdings’ sub-brand Tecno has introduced two new foldable smartphones, the Tecno Phantom V Fold2 and the Phantom V Flip2. These second-generation models offer notable improvements over the earlier Phantom V Fold in areas like design, camera quality, and battery performance.
Impressive Design and Features
The Phantom V Fold2 is now slimmer, measuring just 5.52 mm (0.21 inch) when opened and 11.78 mm (0.46 inch) when closed. In comparison, the first model was 6.9 mm (0.27 inch) opened and 14.2 mm (0.55 inch) when folded. This new model includes a triple rear camera setup that features a 50 MP main camera, a 50 MP ultrawide camera, and a 50 MP telephoto lens supporting 2x optical zoom and 20x digital zoom. For selfies and video calls, there are two 32 MP front-facing cameras.
Hardware and Software Specifications
Inside, the Phantom V Fold2 runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ processor, combined with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage, although it doesn’t allow for any storage expansion. It ships with HiOS 14 based on Android 14. Tecno has committed to providing two major OS updates (Android 15 and 16) along with three years of security updates for this smartphone.
This foldable phone features a 7.85-inch 2K+ LTPO AMOLED main display and a 6.42-inch FHD+ LTPO AMOLED cover display, with both screens supporting a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Weighing in at 249 grams (0.54 lbs), it is 50 grams lighter than its predecessor. The Clamshell Option
Tecno also unveiled the Phantom V Flip2, which is a clamshell-style foldable smartphone. It boasts a 6.9-inch FHD+ 120 Hz LTPO AMOLED main display and a 3.64-inch AMOLED cover display with a resolution of 1,056 x 1,066 pixels. On the rear, it has a dual camera setup featuring a 50 MP primary camera and a 50 MP ultrawide camera. For selfies, it includes a 32 MP front camera.
The Phantom V Flip2 operates on a MediaTek Dimensity 8020 chipset, along with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. It comes with a 4,720 mAh battery that supports 70 W wired charging but lacks wireless charging capabilities.
Pricing and Availability
The Tecno Phantom V Fold2 starts at INR 79,999 (~$945/€890), while the Phantom V Flip2 is priced at INR 34,999 (~$415/€390). The Phantom V Fold2 is available in Karst Green and Rippling Blue, whereas the V Flip2 comes in Moondust Grey and Travertine Green. Both models will be available for purchase starting December 13th on Amazon India.
