Galaxy Watch Ultra: Extreme Temps, 10ATM Pressure, Ocean Swimming

Samsung has unveiled a range of new products at the Galaxy Unpacked event, featuring the sixth generation of Galaxy foldables, the Galaxy Buds 3 series, and the Galaxy Watch 7 series.

The Galaxy Watch 7 series includes two models – the Galaxy Watch 7 and the much-anticipated Galaxy Watch Ultra. This article focuses on the Ultra model, but you can find details about the standard Galaxy Watch 7 here.

Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra’s Distinctive Design

The Galaxy Watch Ultra smartwatch showcases a new design with a titanium body (Titanium Grade 4), capable of withstanding extreme temperatures from -20°C to 55°C and 10ATM water pressure. It meets MIL-STD 810H standards and features an optional water sports strap that easily drains. Additionally, a long press of the shortcut button for 5 seconds activates an 86-decibel siren that can be heard up to 180 meters away.

    Specifications and Features

The watch features a 47mm dial and a 1.5-inch (37.3mm) 480×480 Super AMOLED always-on display. It is offered in three colors: titanium rock gray, titanium platinum silver, and titanium porcelain white.

Powered by the same 3nm Exynos W1000 penta-core chipset as the Galaxy Watch 7, Samsung claims this new chipset is far more capable and energy-efficient than the dual-core Exynos W930 chip in the Galaxy Watch 6. This chipset is paired with 2GB of memory and 32GB of storage. The watch is equipped with a 590mAh battery to run the system.

Without power saving mode, the Galaxy Watch Ultra boasts a battery life of up to 80 hours. At night, its display automatically shifts to a gentle night mode.

Similar to the regular Galaxy Watch 7, the Ultra model includes the Samsung BioActive Sensor (Optical Bio-signal sensor, Electrical Heart Signal, Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis), Temperature Sensor, Accelerometer, Barometer, Gyro Sensor, Geomagnetic Sensor, and Light Sensor. These sensors facilitate various health-tracking features. For instance, the new Multi-sports tile allows for tracking multi-course workouts for a triathlon, including swimming, cycling, and running. The new Functional Threshold Power (FTP) for cycling measures maximum cycling power in just four minutes using AI-powered FTP metrics.

    Pricing and Availability

The Galaxy Watch Ultra is currently available for pre-order in select regions via the company’s official website. The Ultra model, featuring WiFi + 4G LTE connectivity, is priced at $649 (₹ 59,999). The company indicates that the watch will be widely available for purchase starting from July 25, 2024.

When it comes to the Galaxy Watch Ultra, it is anticipated to compete with Apple’s Watch Ultra 2, featuring high-end specifications. It is rumored to be available in a Titanium Gray hue.

Unreleased Samsung Products Leaked in Members App

As one of the leading names in the tech industry, Samsung introduces numerous groundbreaking products each year. This time, however, there was an unexpected leak in the Samsung Members app ahead of the planned launch. The leak disclosed some of Samsung’s upcoming products: Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch FE, Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, Galaxy Buds 3, and Galaxy Ring.

Samsung to Unveil New Products Soon

With the Galaxy event on July 10 just a month away, several new devices were unexpectedly revealed via the Samsung Members app. The leak surfaced on a support page in the app, where users were prompted to select devices to troubleshoot issues they were experiencing. The list featured several new, unreleased devices, such as the Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch FE, Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, Galaxy Buds 3, and Galaxy Ring.

    Upcoming Product Features

The Galaxy Watch 7 will join the Galaxy Watch series with improved health monitoring, extended battery life, and enhanced performance. Samsung consistently aims to elevate user experience with each new model, and the Galaxy Watch 7 is expected to follow this trend. The Galaxy Watch FE is known for delivering high-performance features at a more affordable price, making it attractive to a broad spectrum of users by blending premium features with a more budget-friendly cost.

The Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are anticipated to come with top-tier features like Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and exceptional sound quality. The Pro models are typically crafted for users seeking advanced features and superior audio quality. Meanwhile, the standard Galaxy Buds 3 are likely to shine as a more economical option without sacrificing essential features like quality sound and long battery life.

    Smart Ring Innovation

Smart rings are gaining traction in the tech world, offering functionalities like health and fitness tracking in a compact design. The new Galaxy Ring promises to be a chic accessory providing users with health and activity tracking capabilities. It is expected to excel in features such as sleep monitoring and heart rate tracking. Samsung had acknowledged right after CES that it was developing this product, with a scheduled release around August. Consequently, the Galaxy Ring might be the only product on this list that has yet to be officially launched.

Samsung’s Galaxy event on July 10th will serve as the official platform for unveiling these devices. During this event, we will gain more insights into the leaked devices’ specifications and release dates.

  • Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra: Over 2x Longer Battery Life Than Watch 6 Classic

Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra: Over 2x Longer Battery Life Than Watch 6 Classic

Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy Watch 7 series in June, and it will come in three different versions. The top-tier model might be named the Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra, although there are rumors it could be called the Galaxy Watch X. This model is expected to be a direct competitor to the Apple Watch Ultra.

Galaxy Watch X / Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra Rumored Specifications

The Galaxy Watch X or the Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra is rumored to withstand pressure equivalent to 100 meters underwater, similar to both the Apple Watch Ultra and Apple Watch Ultra 2. However, it’s important to distinguish that the actual depth the Apple Watch Ultra can handle is 40 meters, and this might also be true for the Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra.

Reports suggest that the Watch 7 Ultra will boast a longer battery life compared to other models in the Watch 7 series. You can expect up to 100 hours of battery backup, thanks to a 578mAh battery. For comparison, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic and the Watch5 Pro offer significantly less battery life at 40 hours and 80 hours, with 425mAh and 590mAh batteries respectively. The Apple Watch Ultra 2, on the other hand, provides 36 hours of battery life with a 564mAh capacity.

    Enhanced Battery and Efficiency

Even though the Watch 7 Ultra might feature a slightly larger battery, the substantial improvement in battery life is speculated to be due to more power-efficient operation. The device will be powered by the 3nm Exynos W1000 chip, which is reported to be 20% more capable and power-efficient than the 5nm Exynos W930.

The W1000 chip is anticipated to be Samsung’s first 3nm chip for the mass market. Alongside the new watches, the company is also expected to introduce the next-generation Galaxy foldables and the much-awaited Galaxy Ring.

  • Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra: Leaked Renders Show Dial Design

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra: Leaked Renders Show Dial Design

Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event is rumoured to take place in early July. As usual, the South Korean brand is expected to unveil the next-generation foldable phones, smartwatches, hearables, and the much-awaited Galaxy Ring. Now, we have a first look at the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra in leaked renders shared by reliable tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer (aka onleaks). It is expected to be the top-most model in the Watch 7 series.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra leaked renders

The first thing that stands out is the unique but also confusing design of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra. It’s hard to tell if the dial is square or circular. It appears to be a circle on top of a squarish base. Samsung could be setting the Watch 7 Ultra apart from other models in the lineup with this new design that deviates from the traditional all-circular look.

The Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra will feature the iconic glossy rotating bezels with grooves instead of numbers. On the right side of the smartwatch, there are two physical buttons, similar to previous Galaxy Watches. However, there is also an additional crown-like button between the two, which could be akin to the Action button on the Apple Watch Ultra. The other side of the Watch 7 Ultra has larger cutouts for speaker grilles.

    Unique Features and Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra has wider straps, and the fitting mechanism appears to be different. There are a lot of sensors in circular and square shapes on the back of the wearable device. It is confirmed to retain the temperature sensor. The upcoming Watch 7 series is rumoured to come with blood sugar monitoring.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra will have the same 1.5-inch display as the Watch 6 Classic. The circular screen means that the company won’t have to rework the UI on the upcoming offering, which would have been necessary if it had a square dial. Dimension-wise, the Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra measures 47 x 47.4 x 16.4 mm, which is larger than the Watch 6 Classic. It’s clear that the smartwatch will be bulkier.

    Competing with Apple

Samsung seems to be taking on the Apple Watch Ultra with the Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra. We will learn more in less than two month’s time.
