    The Realme 12 Pro series was officially launched today, featuring two models: the Realme 12 Pro and the Realme 12 Pro Plus. Among the two, the ‘Pro Plus’ stands out as the better and more expensive option. In fact, it is currently the most affordable smartphone on the market that comes with a periscope camera, and even its primary camera is flagship-grade.

    Design and Display

    The Realme 12 Pro Plus retains the design of its predecessor, the Realme 11 Pro Plus, with some minor tweaks. The device boasts a faux leather back and a large camera ring, taking inspiration from luxury watches. It has a thickness of 8.75mm and weighs around 196g.

    The smartphone sports a 6.67-inch curved OLED display with a resolution of 2412 x 1080 pixels (FHD+) and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display features a 10-bit panel with a centered punch-hole and supports a 240Hz touch sampling rate, 2160Hz PWM dimming, and a peak brightness level of 950 nits.

    Performance and Camera

    Under the hood, the Realme 12 Pro Plus is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chip. It runs on Realme UI 5.0, which is based on Android 14.

    In terms of photography, the smartphone is equipped with an OIS-assisted 50MP Sony IMX890 primary sensor, an OIS-assisted 64MP OmniVision OV64B 3x periscope telephoto shooter, an 8MP ultrawide unit, and a 32MP selfie camera.

    Battery and Other Features

    The Realme 12 Pro Plus packs a 5,000mAh battery and supports 67W wired charging. It also features an in-screen fingerprint sensor and comes with Dolby Atmos-supported dual stereo speakers.

    Pricing and Availability

    In India, the Realme 12 Pro Plus is available in three memory configurations:

    • 8GB + 128GB: ₹29,999 (~$360)
    • 8GB + 256GB: ₹31,999 (~$385)
    • 12GB + 256GB: ₹33,999 (~$410)

    The device is offered in Submariner Blue, Navigator Beige, and Explorer Red color variants. The first sale is scheduled for 12 PM IST on February 6 and can be purchased from Flipkart, Realme.com, or retail stores.

    There is also a special early access sale at 6 PM IST today, where the phone can be pre-ordered from select offline stores. The online pre-order window will open tomorrow, January 30.

    Chipset Details for Realme 12 Series

    Following the press conference, a reliable leaker known as Digital Chat Station has shared some information about the chipset that will power the Realme 12 series. According to the leaker, these smartphones will be equipped with the recently announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip. Additionally, the lineup will feature the 64MP OmniVision OV64B 3x periscope telephoto camera, which has already been confirmed by the brand.

    The Realme 12 Pro Plus is expected to be the device that will showcase this SoC and camera setup. On the other hand, the leaker previously revealed that the Realme 12 Pro will come with a 32MP Sony IMX709 2x telephoto shooter.

    Advantage over Redmi Note Series

    The Realme number series has always been a competitor to the Redmi Note lineup. With the camera specifications of the Realme 12 series, it appears that these smartphones will have a significant advantage in the zoom department compared to the Redmi Note 13 family, which lacks a dedicated zoom camera.
