Retroid Pocket Flip 2 Rumors Emerge After Miyoo Flip Launch

The handheld gaming market is full of choices today. Anbernic leads the way with a steady stream of new handheld gaming devices, while Powkiddy and a few others also manage to roll out several new models each year.

    Retroid’s Recent Releases

On the other hand, Retroid has cut back on the number of releases it offers each year, launching only a few new devices. In 2024, for instance, the company introduced the Pocket 5 and Pocket Mini, which serve as updates to the Pocket 4 and Pocket 4 Pro that came out nearly a year before.

    Speculations about New Devices

As per Joey’s Retro Handhelds, a new version of the Retroid Pocket Flip is in the works, which the YouTuber has dubbed the Pocket Flip 2. Currently, there is no information available on the specifications of this anticipated device, nor on how Retroid plans to differentiate it from the earlier model.

    Performance Expectations

However, the original Pocket Flip is powered by a Unisoc Tiger T618 chipset, hinting that its successor will likely outperform rivals like the Miyoo Flip or the Anbernic RG35XX SP, which is currently priced at $76.99 on Amazon. The new RG34XX SP is also expected to offer performance that sits somewhere between the Rockchip RK3566 and the Unisoc Tiger T618.

TrimUI Brick: Affordable Retro Gaming Refresh Now Available

TrimUI has released its new gaming handheld, making it easier to find at various retailers this year. The TrimUI Brick is the successor to the Smart Pro, which is currently priced at $94.99 on Amazon and was hard to find until recently.

    Pricing Differences

While you can still get the TrimUI Brick on Amazon, the prices there are much higher compared to Powkiddy’s official webstore. Powkiddy is also offering the TrimUI Brick in two new colors that were introduced last month. Now, the device is available in four colors: black, red, purple, and white.

    Stock and Shipping Information

It’s important to mention that Powkiddy has limited stock for the black and white versions. They have also noted that the new purple and red options won’t start shipping until early December. All color variations are priced at $59.99, but you can get them for $49.99 if you use the coupon code POWKIDDYLOVE. To wrap it up, the TrimUI Brick has the following specifications packed into a 109.9 x 73.2 x 19.99 mm frame weighing 159 grams, made from ABS plastic.

Powkiddy Launches RGB10X: Affordable Retro Gaming Handheld

Powkiddy has recently begun selling the RGB10X, which launched approximately two weeks after initial information about the device was shared online. As anticipated, Powkiddy offers its new gaming handheld in three color options: Black Transparent, Grey, and Yellow. Additionally, buyers can choose to have either a 64 GB or 128 GB MicroSD card included from the factory.

    Expandable Storage Options

The RGB10X features a secondary MicroSD card slot, allowing users to add extra games beyond what the included MicroSD can hold. For context, the device has dimensions of 145 x 73.2 x 17 mm, which means it has a relatively compact display and a lower-capacity battery. Specifically, Powkiddy has integrated a 2,800 mAh battery, which it claims can provide up to eight hours of gameplay. However, the device uses slow charging technology, resulting in a full charge taking about two hours.

    Performance and Specifications

Moreover, the RGB10X is equipped with a 3.5-inch IPS display that boasts a resolution of 640 x 480. This is paired with a Rockchip RK3326 chipset and 1 GB of LPDDR3L RAM. Consequently, the RGB10X’s performance will be similar to that of the older RGB20S, which is currently priced at $79.99 on Amazon. At this time, the RGB10X is offered at a price of $39.99, or $49.99 if you opt for the 128 GB MicroSD card. As of the latest update, Powkiddy aims to start shipping the device on September 25.
