The Poco F8 Pro and Poco F8 Ultra are both premium smartphones from Poco, powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite processors. Their main differences lie in display size, camera capabilities, and battery life. The F8 Pro features a compact 6.59-inch AMOLED screen (1156 x 2510 pixels, 120 Hz), weighs a light 199 grams, and has dimensions of 157.5 x 75.3 x 8 mm, making it perfect for easy one-handed use. In contrast, the F8 Ultra boasts a bigger 6.9-inch AMOLED display (1200 x 2608 pixels, also 120 Hz) with Poco glass, though it weighs more (218-220 g) and measures larger (163.3 x 77.8 x 7.9-8.3 mm).

    Similarities and Differences

Both models are equipped with 12-16 GB of RAM, UFS 4.1 storage (up to 512 GB), IP68 rating, Android 16 with HyperOS 3.0, and Bose stereo speakers. However, the F8 Ultra features the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for enhanced performance. The brightness and accuracy of the displays are equally impressive on both phones.

    Camera and Battery Features

The rear camera setups are quite distinct: the Pro version has a 50+50+8 MP triple camera system with 2.5x telephoto zoom, while the Ultra impresses with a 50+50+50 MP configuration that includes a 5x periscope telephoto zoom and OIS. The front-facing camera on the Ultra is also better, with a 32 MP sensor and 4K video capabilities compared to the Pro’s 20 MP. Battery capacities vary as well: the Pro has a 6,210 mAh battery with 100W charging, while the Ultra offers a 6,500 mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. Although the Ultra should provide longer usage time, our tests showed the Pro outlasts it.

    Summary of Performance

We’ve neatly laid out all the distinctions in a table format:

Both the Poco F8 Pro and the Poco F8 Ultra delivered solid performance in our evaluations, presenting great overall value for their respective price points. Ultimately, the decision on which smartphone to buy isn’t solely based on cost; the device size can also be a significant factor, influenced by personal preference regarding design. However, for those who enjoy media consumption through speakers, the F8 Ultra is a superior choice, thanks to its unmatched Bose 2.1 sound system in the smartphone market.

The starting price for the F8 Pro is just under $529, whereas the Ultra begins at $729 (both including 256 GB of storage).

  • Poco F8 Ultra: Bose 2.1 Sound System Redefines Audio Quality

Poco F8 Ultra: Bose 2.1 Sound System Redefines Audio Quality

    Key Takeaways

    1. Distinctive Audio Setup: The Poco F8 Ultra features advanced Bose-optimised speakers, including two front speakers and a dedicated back subwoofer, enhancing multimedia experiences.

    2. Superior Sound Quality: The device produces a clear, balanced sound profile with minimal distortion, even at high volumes, thanks to its specialized audio technology.

    3. Enhanced Multimedia Experience: The combination of Bose technology and Dolby Atmos support elevates movie watching, gaming, and music listening on the smartphone.

    4. Competitive Benchmarking: The Poco F8 Ultra sets new standards against competitors like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 17 Pro Max with its superior sound stage and bass.

    5. Ideal for Audiophiles: The smartphone is perfect for users who prioritize audio quality, turning the device into a mobile concert venue.

The Poco F8 Ultra is truly distinctive in the market, especially with its Bose-optimised speakers, making it one of the top multimedia smartphones in the premium range. In contrast to the Poco F8 Pro, which already offers impressive Bose-tuned stereo audio, the Ultra version features an even more advanced audio setup. It boasts two front speakers and a dedicated subwoofer located at the back, delivering a rich, bass-heavy sound that elevates the experience of watching movies, playing games, and enjoying music on the go.

    Superior Sound Experience

Bose technology fine-tunes frequency response, soundstage, and dynamics specifically for the compact design of smartphones. During evaluations, the dual 1115F stereo speakers produced a clear and balanced sound profile, complemented by the 1620 subwoofer, which makes a noticeable difference. High frequencies are mostly precise, while mid-range sounds remain natural, even at high volume levels. At maximum loudness, distortion is minimal, which is quite remarkable for a device of this size. The subwoofer not only amplifies action scenes in films but also enriches gaming sound and delivers deep beats. Whether you hold the device in your hands or set it on a surface, the sound quality stays consistent.

    Competing at a New Level

When compared to rivals like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra or the iPhone 17 Pro Max, the Poco F8 Ultra establishes new benchmarks. With Bose’s technology, it offers a broader sound stage and deeper bass without needing headphones. Furthermore, support for Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio enhances the overall audio experience.

Despite its many strengths, at very high volume levels, a slightly more powerful amplifier could tighten the high frequencies a bit more. All in all, Bose has truly made the Poco F8 Ultra an audio standout: ideal for users who view their smartphone as a mobile concert venue.

  • Poco F8 Ultra: Premium Power, Bose Sound, Denim Style

Poco F8 Ultra: Premium Power, Bose Sound, Denim Style

    Key Takeaways

    1. Premium Build and Design: The Poco F8 Ultra features a sturdy design with a thickness of 8.3 mm, IP68 rating, and is available in black fiberglass and denim blue nanomaterial.

    2. Connectivity Features: It includes advanced connectivity options like USB 3.2, Wi-Fi 7, and dual SIM capability (Nano/eSIM), ensuring high performance.

    3. Camera and Display Quality: With three 50 MP cameras and a 120 Hz AMOLED display, the phone excels in photo quality and offers vibrant visuals, including 8K video recording.

    4. Performance and Battery Efficiency: Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and available with up to 16 GB of RAM, it delivers exceptional performance, though it may experience overheating during heavy use; the 6,500 mAh battery provides long-lasting usage.

    5. Software Concerns: The device runs HyperOS 3.0 on Android 16 but is criticized for bloatware and advertisements, with a commitment to four years of updates and two years of security improvements.

The Poco F8 Ultra comes to the market just eight months after its previous version, thanks to a shift in Poco’s approach. This smartphone stands out with its premium build quality, available in black (fiber glass) and denim blue (nanomaterial). With a thickness of 8.3 mm and IP68 rating, it feels sturdy, has minimal creaks, and offers a good grip. The device includes a USB 3.2 port (supporting speeds up to 768 MB/s), Wi-Fi 7 (excluding 6 GHz), and dual SIM capability (Nano/eSIM). HyperOS 3.0 runs on Android 16 and promises four years of system updates along with two years of security improvements, though it suffers from excess bloatware and advertisements. The commitment to sustainability is also quite superficial, as user repairs are not an option.

    Connectivity and Call Quality

The mobile, GNSS (dual-band), and Wi-Fi performance are top-notch, with precise Satfix both inside and outside. When it comes to calls, the voice quality excels in quiet settings, but the noise cancellation feature does not perform well in louder environments.

    Camera and Display

Equipped with three 50 MP cameras (Light Fusion 950 main, ultra-wide, and zoom with OIS), the Poco F8 Ultra captures well-balanced photos in daylight, decent low-light images, and supports macro photography. It can shoot videos at resolutions of up to 8K/30 FPS or 4K/60 FPS. The 120 Hz AMOLED display (416 PPI, 3,500 cd/m²) is bright, accurately represents colors, and remains easily readable in sunlight.

    Performance and Battery Life

At the heart of the device is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, available with either 12 or 16 GB of RAM, paired with Adreno 840 and VisionBoost-D8, ensuring exceptional performance. However, it does experience throttling under heavy usage (up to 50 °C) and tends to overheat during stress tests. The Bose speakers, featuring a subwoofer, are a standout element. The 6,500 mAh battery can last for about 22 hours of Wi-Fi use, and charging options include a cable (100 W: 35 min) or wireless (50 W).

In conclusion, the Poco F8 Ultra delivers high-end performance, impressive audio quality, and strong battery life at a reasonable cost. Yet, issues related to cooling, updates, and bloatware might dampen the overall experience.

Shortly after, the company shared more insights about the upcoming Poco F8 Pro and Poco F8 Ultra, highlighting their use of top-tier Qualcomm technology. Recent leaks hinted that Xiaomi has chosen to equip the two models with the Snapdragon 8 Elite and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipsets, respectively.

    Details Awaiting Launch Day

It’s expected that Xiaomi will keep some information about these smartphones under wraps until the official launch. Meanwhile, leaker Sudhanshu Ambhore has provided details about the Poco F8 Ultra, having also shared insights about the Poco F8 Pro earlier today. According to the data shared, the Poco F8 Ultra is anticipated to be more durable against drops compared to the Poco F8 Pro, at least based on tests from the EU.

    Battery Life Insights

In addition, the Poco F8 Ultra is projected to last nearly 4.5 hours longer between charges than its Pro counterpart. Key Takeaways

    1. The Poco F8 Ultra will launch on November 26, replacing the Poco F7 Ultra, which is currently priced at $735.
    2. It features the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, offering improved performance with an AnTuTu score of 3,944,934.

    4. The device includes the new VisionBoost D8 chipset, enhancing image quality with sharper visuals through AI Super Resolution.
    5. Independent reviews are recommended for a complete assessment of the Poco F8 Ultra’s capabilities and features.

Xiaomi is just over a week away from the official launch of the Poco F8 Ultra. This new model is set to replace the Poco F7 Ultra, which was released less than a year ago and is currently priced at $735 on Amazon. The Poco F8 Ultra will be introduced alongside the Poco F8 Pro during a global event scheduled for November 26 at 08:00 UTC.

    New Features and Specifications

In the meantime, Xiaomi has shared some details about the Poco F8 Ultra and how it will stand out from the previous version. The company has stated that the new device will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which is Qualcomm’s most advanced mobile chipset and significantly surpasses the Snapdragon 8 Elite found in the Poco F7 Ultra. Xiaomi claims that the Poco F8 Ultra achieves a score of 3,944,934 on AnTuTu.

    Performance Comparison

Although this score is impressive, it doesn’t quite match up to the performance of similar powerful devices like the RedMagic 11 Pro Plus, OnePlus 15, and the iQOO 15, all of which are also powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Nonetheless, a score close to 4 million would still place the Poco F8 Ultra ahead of the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max in the same benchmarking tests.

    Graphics Enhancements

Apart from that, Xiaomi will also highlight the Poco F8 Ultra’s VisionBoost D8 chipset. This new chipset is an upgrade from the previous VisionBoost D7, and Xiaomi asserts that the D8 enhances the quality of images by producing ‘sharper, more detailed visuals’ with the help of AI Super Resolution algorithms. It would be wise to hold off on forming an opinion about the Poco F8 Ultra and its new graphics chipset until independent reviews are available.

    Confirmation via Tweets

Now, Xiaomi has verified this through several tweets. True to expectations, the Poco F8 series will begin with the Poco F8 Pro and Poco F8 Ultra, skipping the Poco F8. The Poco F8 Pro will come in Black, Blue, and Titanium Silver, while the Poco F8 Ultra will only be available in Blue Denim and Black.

    Comparisons to Redmi Models

Additionally, the tweets suggest that the Poco F8 models are Xiaomi’s global versions of the Redmi K90 and Redmi K90 Pro Max. • Xiaomi Poco F8 Ultra Global Launch Plans Revealed Before Announcement

Xiaomi Poco F8 Ultra Global Launch Plans Revealed Before Announcement

    Key Takeaways

    1. The Poco F8 Ultra is expected to be the international version of the Redmi K90 Pro Max, based on the Poco F7 Ultra.
    2. The Poco F8 Ultra may feature a downgraded 6,500 mAh battery compared to its predecessor.
    3. It will have fewer color options, likely only Black and Denim Blue, while the Redmi K90 Pro Max offers more colors.
    4. The Poco F8 Ultra is rumored to have only two memory configurations, unlike the four available for the Redmi K90 Pro Max.
    5. The device is expected to launch alongside the Poco F8 Pro in late 2025 or early 2026.

The Redmi K90 Pro Max is believed to have set the stage for the Poco F8 Ultra, as Xiaomi has used this year’s Poco F7 Ultra (currently priced at $735.50 on Amazon) as a foundation, based on the slightly older Redmi K80 Pro. Recent leaks indicate that the Poco F8 Ultra is likely to be the international version of the Redmi K90 Pro Max.

    Battery Changes Ahead

Sadly, there are signs pointing to a potential downgrade for the battery. It seems that the Poco F8 Ultra will come with a 6,500 mAh battery, and Xiaomi appears to be planning to launch the device in less variety than the Redmi K90 Pro Max. According to Paras Guglani, the Poco F8 Ultra is expected to be offered in Black and Denim Blue colors, which is two less than what’s available for the Redmi K90 Pro Max.

    Memory Options and Variants

In other words, the leaker suggests that the Poco F8 Ultra will not include certain features present in the Redmi K90 Pro Max. Furthermore, it may have significantly fewer memory choices compared to its Chinese counterpart. The Redmi K90 Pro Max has four memory configurations, while the Poco F8 Ultra is rumored to only offer two options.

Specifically, Guglani mentions that the Poco F8 Ultra is likely to start with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, similar to its predecessor and the Redmi K90 Pro Max. Unfortunately, the leaker anticipates that the Poco F8 Ultra will also have a 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage variant, while a 1 TB model is expected to remain exclusive to China. As things stand, the Poco F8 Ultra is projected to launch alongside the Poco F8 Pro sometime in late 2025 or early 2026.
