  • Google Offers 30% Off Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold

Google Offers 30% Off Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold

Google has recently launched the Pixel 9 series, consisting of four different models. The lineup includes the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which currently retails for $1,799 on Amazon. It’s expected that the series will soon be expanded with the Pixel 9a, likely coming out early next year.

Price Cuts for Pixel 9 Phones

In a new promotion, Google has announced a 30% price cut on its existing Pixel 9 smartphones. This new discount follows an earlier, smaller one aimed at Google One subscribers at the end of October. That previous deal offered a $150 reduction on top of a standard 10% discount for subscribers, but Google’s current offer goes much deeper.

    Savings on Specific Models

To illustrate, the base Pixel 9’s price is now lowered to $559.30 after the 30% discount. In contrast, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which comes with 512 GB of storage, is now priced at $1,343.30, giving buyers a substantial $570 off the regular price. It’s important to note that you need to be a Google Play Points member to take advantage of this deal, which must be redeemed by December 2, 2024. If you qualify, you can find your unique code in the Play Points section of the Google Play Store, where it appears under ‘Perks’. • Why Pixel 9 Pro Fold Won’t Charge on Pixel Stand

Why Pixel 9 Pro Fold Won’t Charge on Pixel Stand

The Google Pixel Stand and Pixel Stand 2 serve as excellent wireless chargers for many Pixel users, except for those who have the latest Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Google has now provided a diagram explaining why the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is incompatible with these chargers.

The wireless charging coil inside the Pixel 9 Pro Fold isn’t precisely centered, unlike most other phones that support wireless charging, including previous Pixel models. As depicted in the image below, this misalignment is the primary issue.

    Charging Coil Alignment Issues

Google’s wireless charging method uses a stand, unlike a pad where you can freely adjust the phone’s position. This design makes it impossible to align the Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s charging coil properly, hence why it doesn’t charge with the Pixel Stand or Pixel Stand 2.

Why Pixel 9 Pro Fold Won't Charge on Pixel Stand

    Compatibility with Other Chargers

Despite this, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is compatible with many other wireless chargers on the market. Google advises users to adjust their phone’s position on alternative chargers to ensure proper charging. To verify alignment, users are encouraged to check their phone’s charging indicator.

    Design Changes and User Concerns

The repositioning of the wireless charging coil might be due to an updated camera placement in the Pixel 9 Pro Fold compared to its predecessor. Regardless of the reason, it’s unfortunate that Google didn’t maintain the coil’s position to ensure compatibility with the Pixel Stand 2. This oversight forces Pixel 9 Pro Fold users, who already own a Pixel Stand, to purchase a different wireless charger for their new device.

We hope Google resolves this alignment issue in future iterations of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

  • Pixel 9 Pro Fold Lacks Key Camera Features from Cheaper Models

Pixel 9 Pro Fold Lacks Key Camera Features from Cheaper Models

With a starting price of $1,799, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold stands as Google’s priciest phone yet, featuring a more compact design and enhanced internal components.

Despite its premium status, this model lacks certain unique AI video features found in its non-folding siblings, the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. According to PhoneArena, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is missing the Video Boost feature that debuted with the Pixel 8 Pro last year.

    Video Boost Feature

Video Boost utilizes Google’s cloud processing capabilities to enhance video quality. To activate it, users must record a video with the feature turned on, which is then sent to Google’s servers for AI-driven improvements. Once processing is complete, users receive a notification that their "Boosted" video is ready for download. Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL models offer even more advanced results by supporting the upscaling of 4K videos to 8K and providing lossless 20x zoom with Video Boost. The processing speed is reportedly double that of the Pixel 8 Pro.

Although Video Boost’s core operations are cloud-based, there are some hardware requirements, as noted by PhoneArena. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold, despite its high price tag, seemingly falls short of meeting these needs.

    Camera System Comparison

Its camera setup includes a 48MP primary lens, a 10.5MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10.5MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, which doesn’t stack up against the 50MP primary, 48MP ultra-wide, and 48MP telephoto lenses with 5x optical zoom in the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL.

This disparity isn’t unexpected, as foldable phones typically struggle to match the camera prowess of their non-folding peers. Similar differences can be seen between the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy S24 Ultra. However, at a price point of $1,800, users might anticipate top-notch camera technology from Google in the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. This exclusion could be a potential dealbreaker for avid photographers.

    Weighing Your Options

Ultimately, the choice hinges on what matters most to you. If video editing and high zoom capabilities are priorities, the Pixel 9 Pro series clearly has the edge.

On the other hand, if you prioritize a large, unfolded display and productivity, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold remains a compelling option. Just be mindful of its camera hardware and video processing limitations compared to the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL before making your decision.

  • Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Pixel Watch 3 Renderings Leaked Again

Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Pixel Watch 3 Renderings Leaked Again

We have already caught a glimpse of the new Pixel devices through a leaked promo video of the Pixel Watch 3 and renders of the Pixel 9 series. Now, additional renders of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and the Pixel Watch 3 have emerged online, thanks to tipster Arsène Lupin.

    Pixel Watch 3:

Below, you can view the renders of the Pixel Watch 3, which closely resemble its predecessor. However, reports suggest that the Pixel Watch 3 will feature a brighter display and potentially slimmer bezels. The strap design seems unchanged from the previous model. The speculated color options are also visible in the images below.

According to an earlier report, the Watch 3 series will continue to utilize the Qualcomm 5100 chip and the Cortex M33 coprocessor, similar to the previous model. It will come with the same 2GB RAM and 32GB eMMC storage, mirroring its predecessor’s specifications. Consequently, the watch will have comparable computing power to the previous model. However, it is anticipated that the new watch will ship with Wear OS 5, which might bring some enhancements. It is also rumored that the refresh rate has been improved from 30Hz to 60Hz.

    Pixel 9 Pro Fold:

The tipster has also shared high-definition renders of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which you can view below. Sources indicate that Google intends to release two storage versions of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold: 256GB and 512GB. These variants are expected to be priced at $1,799 and $1,919, respectively.

Previous rumors suggest that the phone will boast an 8.0-inch inner screen with dimensions of 147×141 mm and a resolution of 2152 x 2076 pixels. The panel will offer a pixel density of 374ppi, much like the Pixel Fold. Unlike its predecessor, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is slightly shorter and features a 6:5 aspect ratio.

The outer screen measures 6.24 inches, whereas the predecessor has a 5.8-inch cover display. The upcoming device’s outer panel is rumored to achieve 1800 nits in high brightness mode, compared to 1200 nits in the previous model.

Google Pixel 9 Series Renders: Design & Color Options Revealed

Google is gearing up to release the Pixel 9 series on August 13. Yet, a recent leak has provided us with a detailed preview of the design and color choices for the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. These images, shared by tipster @MysteryLupin, are available for viewing below.

    Pixel 9

Consistent with earlier leaks, the renders depict a flat design with a camera island that is no longer attached to the frame. Every model features centrally placed punch-hole front cameras.

    Pixel 9 Pro

Both the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro showcase a single pill-shaped camera cutout on the back. In contrast, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold features dual pill-shaped cutouts. Despite this, the standard Pixel 9 still sports a dual camera setup on its rear. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold appears to have a triple camera configuration on the back, akin to the Pixel 9 Pro.

    Pixel 9 Pro Fold

The Pixel 9 is rumored to feature a 6.3″ “Actua” display, which is marginally larger than the 6.2″ screen of its predecessor. The main and ultrawide cameras reportedly include 50MP and 48MP sensors, respectively. This marks an upgrade from the previous 12MP ultrawide sensor. The device retains a 10.5MP selfie camera, similar to its predecessor. Further reliable information about the sensors isn’t available at this moment.

While the renders indicate three models, an earlier rumor suggested that the Pixel 9 series comprises four models – Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

    Performance

Regarding performance, the series will be driven by the Tensor G4 chipset, which is expected to offer only minor enhancements over last year’s Tensor G3. For more details on the Tensor G4, click here.

Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 9 Pro Launching August 14 in India

Google has recently announced a global launch event on August 13 to unveil the Pixel 9 series and the Pixel Watch 3. This marks a departure from their usual schedule, which typically sees Pixel phones being released in the first week of October. Additionally, the Indian division of Google has confirmed that the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be launched in India at 10:30pm IST on August 14. Here’s a closer look at what these new devices will offer.

The Pixel 9 Pro’s official teaser features a raised, horizontal camera visor with rounded corners. This visor includes three cameras, an LED flash, and a temperature sensor. While the Pixel 9 Pro has been teased for the Indian market, it remains uncertain whether the Pixel 9 and the rumored Pixel 9 Pro XL will also be available in India.

    Pixel 9 Pro Fold Details

The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be the brand’s second-generation foldable phone. According to the official teaser, its camera island is located in the upper-left corner and seems to house three cameras, an LED flash, and a microphone. The teaser video also reveals the inner design of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Although the teaser doesn’t show an internal camera, leaks have confirmed its presence. Unlike the original Pixel Fold, which had its internal camera on the bezel, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is expected to feature a screen cutout for the internal camera in the top-left corner.

    Integration of Gemini AI

Google has also announced the integration of Gemini AI into the upcoming Pixel phones. The foldable model will be available in Porcelain and Obsidian color options. While Google India has only teased the Porcelain variant of the Pixel 9 Pro, it is expected that more color options will be available.

  • Pixel 9 Lineup Unveiled: Pixel 9 Pro Fold Camera Array Revealed

Pixel 9 Lineup Unveiled: Pixel 9 Pro Fold Camera Array Revealed

Real-life images of Google’s entire Pixel 9 lineup have surfaced. This includes internal shots of the devices. Google is preparing to launch the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold soon.

Earlier, a hands-on image of a pink Pixel 9 had leaked. Now, the team at Android Authority has also obtained photos of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Let’s take a first look at the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

    Pixel 9 Pro Fold

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold showcases a square camera array. Internal images indicate it features a triple camera setup. The outer display’s selfie camera is centered, whereas the inner display’s selfie camera is located at the top right corner.

As previously reported, the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro had already been seen in earlier leaks. The new NCC photos, however, provide a thorough view of all the phones from various angles. Unlike the glossy finish found on earlier Pixel models, the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL sport a matte finish on the back, akin to Apple’s iPhone Pro series. The boxy design of these phones also lends them an iPhone-like appearance. It appears phone manufacturers are slowly moving away from rounded designs.

There is also news of a possible increase in charging speed. The Pixel 9 Pro XL might support 35W charging. Although this isn’t particularly impressive compared to devices from Chinese manufacturers, it is a slight improvement over the Pixel 8 Pro’s 30W charging. Additionally, we have some details on the battery capacities. But before we delve into that, let’s look at the rest of the Pixel 9 series.

    Battery capacities

The battery capacities of the Pixel 9 series are quite similar to the previous generation. In a previous article, it was noted that the regular Pixel 9 is slightly larger than the Pixel 8. The Pixel 9 features a 4558 mAh battery, compared to the Pixel 8’s 4485 mAh battery. Though the difference is minor, it indicates that the slight increase in size is due to the larger battery. Keep in mind that the typical capacity is not used in marketing materials; you can compare the battery capacity with other devices.

    DeviceBattery size (typical)
    Pixel 94558 mAh
    Pixel 9 Pro4558 mAh
    Pixel 9 Pro XL4942 mAh
    Pixel 9 Pro Fold4560 mAh (1183 mAh + 3377 mAh)
    Pixel 84485 mAh
    Pixel 8 Pro4950 mAh
    Pixel Fold4727 mAh (1460 mAh + 3267 mAh)

Google Pixel 9 Series Pricing May Disappoint Potential Buyers

French publication Dealabs has revealed potential European pricing for the forthcoming Pixel 9 series: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. If the leak holds true, most models will see a price increase compared to the Pixel 8 series.

The base Pixel 9 is expected to be priced at €899 for the 128GB version and €999 for the 256GB version. Reportedly, it will be available in Obsidian (black), Porcelain (white), Cosmo (likely pink), and Mojito (presumably green).

    Pixel 9 Pro Details

The Pixel 9 Pro, which is anticipated to be similar in size to the base model but with extra cameras, will begin at €1,099 for the 128GB model, €1,199 for the 256GB model, and €1,329 for the 512GB model. Top-tier configurations will be limited to Obsidian and Hazel, whereas other storage options will also include Porcelain and the pink shade, possibly named "Cosmo."

Pixel 9 Pro XL and Fold

The Pixel 9 Pro XL, expected to succeed the Pixel 8 Pro in terms of size, will share the Pixel 9 Pro’s internals but in a larger form factor. Pricing will start at €1,199 for 128GB, €1,299 for 256GB, €1,429 for 512GB, and €1,689 for the rumored 1TB model. The 1TB model will be exclusive to Obsidian. Other color options include Porcelain and Hazel for the 128GB and 512GB models, with the 256GB variant uniquely featuring Pink.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold, succeeding the original Pixel Fold, is expected to be priced at €1,899 for the 256GB version and €2,029 for the 512GB version. Color choices for the foldable will be limited to Obsidian and Porcelain.

    Pricing Context

These prices are listed in Euros, and VAT variations could cause slight differences across the European Union. However, if accurate, this leak suggests an upward trend in pricing for the Pixel 9 series compared to the Pixel 8 models.

  • Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold: Upcoming Foldable from Google

Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold: Upcoming Foldable from Google

Last year, Google made its entry into the foldable phone market with the Pixel Fold. According to reports, recent developments indicate that they may already be working on its successor device – tentatively known as Pixel Fold 2, according to AndroidAuthority; instead it could likely become known as Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

    Google’s Next Foldable Device

Google’s forthcoming foldable phone will be part of their Pixel 9 series, according to an anonymous source at Google. According to this publication’s knowledge from within Google itself, this foldable handset would join two existing phones known as “tokay” and “caiman”, respectively in this lineup of products.

    Codenames and Specifications

As previously indicated by leaks and references in software for this year’s Pixel phones, “Komodo” and “comet” have become known to refer to both phones – respectively the Pixel 9 Pro XL and 9 Pro Fold – under codenames Komodo and Comet, while leaks indicate that its design closely mirrors that of previous generation Pixel phones equipped with Tensor G4 chips such as Pixel 9.

Rumors regarding Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold have indicated an 8.02-inch foldable screen internally and 6.29-inch cover display externally, along with 16GB LPDDR5 RAM, 256GB UFS 4.0 storage, and Google’s Pixie AI assistant. With its launch slated to occur sometime during October this year.
