Xiaomi Launches HyperOS 2: New Features & Smart Device Sync

Earlier today, Xiaomi introduced its new flagship smartphone line known as the Xiaomi 15 series, along with the Pad 7 series tablets and various other gadgets. The company also launched its newest operating system, HyperOS 2, which is based on Android 15. This system aims to simplify daily activities by providing a seamless connection between smartphones, TVs, wearables, cars, and home gadgets. Below are some of the main features of this innovative operating system.

    Enhancing Speed and Graphics

At the core of HyperOS 2 is the Xiaomi HyperCore, a fresh system framework created from scratch. Xiaomi has implemented improvements to optimize task management, memory usage, and input processing, all intending to enhance the speed and efficiency of devices.

In terms of graphics, Xiaomi revamped its image processing techniques. The new system employs a technique known as heterogeneous computing, which distributes tasks across various processors. This upgrade aims to deliver a more fluid visual experience, particularly during gaming or video playback.

    Improved Connectivity

Xiaomi has focused on enhancing Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 5G connections across its devices to ensure users maintain a stable connection without interruptions—whether they are on calls, gaming, or streaming content.

A notable feature is Xiaomi HyperConnect, which facilitates easy synchronization between different Xiaomi devices. Users will be capable of transitioning from their phone to their TV or smartwatch without any interruption. Additionally, file transfers are now 33% quicker, and latency issues—such as delays in signal transfer—have decreased by 54%.

    AI Tools for Easier Living

HyperOS 2 is loaded with new artificial intelligence tools aimed at creating a more personalized and engaging user experience. The dynamic wallpapers adapt throughout the day based on user activity, while cinematic lock screens give devices a more vibrant appearance. Smart screensavers for TVs will also update according to user preferences.

The system features smooth animations and a 3D real-time weather system designed with an authentic atmospheric model for a more engaging user experience.

A new personal assistant called Super XiaoAi supports users with small yet frequent tasks. It can autofill personal data, remind individuals of appointments, and even manage certain chores according to their routines. If users need to locate specific files or images, Super XiaoAi can search across all devices using just a voice command.

Moreover, AI Magic Painting allows users to modify photos with different styles or make minor adjustments by referencing character poses. Additional AI features enhance productivity: real-time voice-to-text transcription, automatic translations during meetings or video calls, and gesture-based effects that improve video calls.

To ensure user safety, the system includes AI fraud detection to spot scam calls or manipulated videos before they can inflict harm.

    Enhanced Security Measures

Xiaomi has incorporated chip-based security protocols to guarantee that devices are safeguarded on both hardware and software fronts. The company asserts rigorous privacy controls, including encryption for both cloud and local data, making sure that user information remains secure.

    Device Integration Across Ecosystems

To facilitate smooth transitions between devices, HyperOS 2 features the updated Wonderful Desktop 2.0, which allows users to operate applications across multiple devices. For instance, users can initiate a task on their phone and finish it on their TV or computer without needing to reinstall any applications.

The system is also compatible with Apple devices, enabling iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks to connect effortlessly with Xiaomi products. Installing Xiaomi Internet Service on Apple devices simplifies file transfers, document access, and the use of Xiaomi’s Mi Desktop on a Mac.

Smart wearables are also receiving upgrades, including gesture controls that allow users to activate connected home gadgets with a snap of their fingers. This feature makes managing smart devices more intuitive and straightforward.

    Broadened Entertainment and Streaming Features

HyperOS 2.0 introduces new live-streaming functionalities. The Cross-Device Camera 2.0 feature enables users to stream from two devices at once, perfect for activities such as gaming, exercising, or teaching online. TV users can now enjoy picture-in-picture mode, which lets them watch content while using other applications or even while working out.

Xiaomi’s newest devices come with this operating system pre-installed, and the company plans to begin rolling out updates for older devices starting in November 2024.

Xiaomi Announces October Launch for Two New Wearable Devices

Xiaomi is gearing up to launch several new products, including the Xiaomi 15 and the Xiaomi 15 Pro. They have also announced the upcoming Pad 7 series, which will succeed the Pad 6, currently priced at $326.06 on Amazon. In addition to these tablets and smartphones, Xiaomi is working on a new range of wearables as well.

    Product Launches in China

It’s important to note that these launches are primarily for China, where Xiaomi typically releases its new devices before they become available in other regions, often several months later. For example, the Redmi Note 14 series has yet to be launched internationally, even a month after its debut in China. However, recent indications suggest that the new Redmi Note smartphones might soon be introduced globally.

    Wearable Devices on the Horizon

As for the wearables, it seems it might take some time before they are available outside of China. Xiaomi has not revealed many specifics about these devices yet, but they did share promotional images for the Watch S4 and Smart Band 9 Pro. From what we can see, these wearables appear to be more modern versions of their predecessors.

    Upcoming Improvements

Xiaomi plans to showcase some hardware enhancements on October 29 when they officially reveal both of these wearables. These improvements could include brighter screens or a new intercom feature, making the upcoming gadgets more appealing to consumers.
