Xiaomi has introduced its inaugural outdoor camera solar panel in China. This solar panel is specifically designed for outdoor cameras and is compatible only with the Xiaomi BW500 model. Capable of delivering up to 5W of power, the solar panel ensures a continuous power supply for the outdoor camera. Initially revealed recently, the pricing details for the solar panel were not disclosed until now.
High-Efficiency and Durable Design
Constructed from high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon, the new Xiaomi outdoor camera solar panel supports uninterrupted recording for the camera. According to Xiaomi, the solar panel achieves optimal efficiency with at least 3 hours of direct sunlight daily. The design incorporates IP66 dust and waterproof protection, ensuring durability and reliability. It features a waterproof USB-C charging cable and a wing-shaped soft rubber design around the charging port to prevent rainwater ingress during charging.
Specifications of the Xiaomi BW500 Camera
Last month, Xiaomi released the Xiaomi outdoor camera BW500 via crowdfunding, priced at 369 yuan ($51). The BW500 boasts a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, an F1.6 large aperture, and a 136-degree wide-angle lens. Additionally, it is equipped with powerful infrared and full-color LED lighting for clear night vision up to 10 meters, which can intelligently illuminate in dim environments.
Extended Battery Life
The Xiaomi BW500 camera is powered by a 10,000mAh battery, which can last up to six months as per Xiaomi’s claims. The camera employs a low-power algorithm that adjusts battery usage based on scene conditions, thus extending its battery life. When paired with the new Xiaomi outdoor camera solar panel, the BW500 benefits from an uninterrupted power supply, further extending its operational time. In China, the Xiaomi outdoor solar panel is priced at 199 yuan ($27) and is available at Xiaomi Mall.
