Oppo K12 Plus Launches with 6400mAh Battery and Snapdragon 7 Gen 3

Oppo has launched its new K12 Plus smartphone in China. This device is positioned in the mid-range market, emphasizing a large battery and a fluid display, along with a solid camera system. Let’s explore the specifics of this device.

Specifications of the Oppo K12 Plus

The K12 Plus is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, a chip that is great for daily activities and some light gaming. It runs on Oppo’s ColorOS 14, which is layered over Android 14. You can choose between storage configurations of 8GB/256GB or a robust 12GB/512GB.

Features of the Display and Cameras

On the front, the smartphone sports a 6.7-inch AMOLED display that features a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling, and it has a peak brightness of 1100 nits for better visibility in sunlight. The display supports the P3 color gamut and has a 240Hz touch sampling rate, which enhances the gaming experience by making it more responsive.

On the rear, the K12 Plus has a straightforward dual-camera arrangement. The primary sensor is a 50MP camera, likely paired with an 8MP ultrawide lens. For selfies and video calls, a 16MP front camera is available to capture your moments.

    Battery and Connectivity

The device is equipped with a substantial 6400mAh battery, which should cater to all-day usage, even for heavy users. Oppo also includes 80W wired fast charging to quickly replenish the battery.

In terms of connectivity, the K12 Plus covers all bases with 5G support, in addition to standard Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC. It also includes a USB Type-C port that supports OTG and features an under-display fingerprint scanner for enhanced security.

    Pricing and Availability

The Oppo K12 Plus is offered in two colors: Snow Peak White and Black Basalt. The starting price is CNY 1799 (approximately $258) for the 8GB/256GB model, while the high-end 12GB/512GB variant is priced at CNY 2499 (around $353). Pre-orders are currently open in China, with official sales commencing on October 15th, 2024.

OPPO K12 Plus Launch: Flagship Battery, Charging & Durability

The OPPO K12 Plus is expected to be introduced as a smartphone that can handle tough conditions while keeping the same "Tough Esthetics" as its standard version (which is a Chinese variant of the OnePlus Nord CE4, priced at INR 23,499 (~$255) on Amazon India).

    Launch Details

The phone is anticipated to launch on October 12, 2024, and OPPO has suggested that the Plus model might feature a larger battery than the original K12, which was notable at its debut alongside the OnePlus 12R and Nord CE4 for their impressive 5,500mAh capacity.

    Charging Capabilities

However, it’s important to note that the K12 Plus will likely have slower charging speeds compared to those 100W models. Still, OPPO claims that users will benefit from its new "Endurance Edition" 80W SUPERVOOC technology. It is expected to include a fresh dual-port gallium nitride (GaN) charger, which could potentially charge the K12 Plus to 50% in just 20 minutes.

    Additional Features

Interestingly, the upcoming high-end Find X8 series is also rumored to support 80W charging. Furthermore, the K12 Plus will reportedly be the flagship device for an engaging OPPO initiative, allowing users in select Chinese cities to borrow or return a 33W SuperVOOC power bank at designated locations in a ‘battery swap’ format.

Despite all the excitement surrounding the K12 Plus, it is still unclear if it will feature the same Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 platform found in the regular version.

OPPO shared this information via Weibo.

Oppo K12 Plus Specs Leaked with Official Design Image Revealed

Oppo is said to be developing a new K-series smartphone aimed at the Chinese market. The upcoming Oppo PKS110, which has recently received approval from China’s radio certification platform and was found in Geekbench’s database, is rumored to be the Oppo K12 Plus. This device has also surfaced in TENAA’s database, disclosing its full specifications.

Specifications of the Oppo K12 Plus (Rumored)

According to the information from TENAA, the Oppo K12 Plus is equipped with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display that offers an FHD+ resolution. While the listing does not specify it, the display is believed to support a 120Hz refresh rate. Additionally, the phone will include an in-display fingerprint sensor for enhanced security.

The TENAA listing suggests that the Oppo K12 Plus is powered by a 2.4GHz octa-core processor. Its Geekbench entry has confirmed it to feature the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset. The device is anticipated to come in variants with 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM and storage options of 256 GB or 512 GB in China. Furthermore, it is expected to house a 6,400mAh battery (typical value) with fast charging capabilities of 80W. However, TENAA lists the rated battery capacity as 6,220mAh.

    Camera and Operating System

For photography, the Oppo K12 Plus will include a 16-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. The rear setup boasts a 50-megapixel main camera alongside an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. The smartphone is likely to operate on ColorOS 14, which is based on Android 14. In terms of dimensions, the device will measure 162.47 x 75.33 x 8.37 mm and weigh 193 grams. Although there are no images of the phone available in the TENAA database, an Oppo executive has previously shared an official image displaying the rear design of the K12 Plus, aligning it with the design of other K-series devices released earlier this year.

    Previous K-series Releases

To remind readers, the Oppo K12 and K12x that launched in China earlier this year were later rebranded as the OnePlus Nord CE 4 and Nord CE 4 Lite for the international market. Currently, it remains uncertain if the K12 Plus will receive a different name for its global release.
